  Boyfriend force me to study the bible or no marriage

  my boyfriend, who is a disfellowshipped jehova's witness, asks me to study the bible for 3 months or he won't marry me (i'm a muslim woman).

  he loves me and really wants to marry me but he is doing a passive blackmailing: if i don't study for 3 months, 1 time per week, in my home country, and without him, there will be no marriage... as a muslim, i believe the bible is god's word so i look at the bible from time to time and would be happy to study with him.

  but the fact that he is kind of saying "study the bible or bye bye no marriage" is really hurtful.

  when i was a young man growing up in the religion, i would try to defend whatever the understanding of a doctrine was.

  i won a lot of arguments based on the idea that i knew better than anyone i was talking to and defended myself admirably.

  (lol)....eventually, i realized i was in a cult but for many years i was a believer and i had faith that the gb knew more that i could understand..

  When I believed the bible was the inerrant word of god, I thought the JW out up a good argument against the trinity. Then I realized what Christian churches actually teach and I saw that there were real reasons for both sides opinions. Then I realized the bible wasn't historically reliable, nor was it talking to our ideas of truth, fact and that we were indeed unable to ignore the historical church in coming to an understanding of "truth". Then I threw up my hands and figured that if God expected me to figure it out, it wouldn't be debatable.

  If there is a God he either wasn't the author of that mess or if he was, there is no chance of getting to any absolute truth and it's impossible to please the conflicted master of the universe, so why try?

  Why didn't they just get down to brass racks and have a big "Us vs. Everyone else " and be done with it?

  Also looking forward to the new twist of the hailstorm message. Likely this will be another thought provoking leading talk encouraging JWs to speculate themselves into a frenzy of LPA (loyalty proving activities,) resulting in new revenue streams and who knows what kind of shark jumping!

  So far I see evidence that he went to show events. Memorial and dedication of building. He has ties, yes, but those are the equivalent of born in Catholics going to Christmas mass and the Vatican.   I was very impressed watching the Dutch lawmakers work through the questions and fact finding. The actually seemed interested in dealing with facts and working with facts as they planned to interview the local bethel. Ok, I was amused at how the one guy sincerely thought he was going to be able to work with the org to develop strategies to examine/improve their handling of these cases and their dismay at judicial processes that left out law enforcement. They actually

  thought the WTBTS would work with them, bless their hearts.

  this was on the front page of freep.com this morning - sadly there are some factual errors in this article that people will jump on (not allowed to go to college was in original article for instance - hopefully the reporter will correct it).

  interesting reading the comments below the article - all kinds of opinions.

  Pure speculation. Maybe she wanted to go back to the borg and feared what would happen to the rest at Armageddon when they pushed back. Then it makes sense in the crazy JW mindset

  I like the USA being united States, but the concept of states rights, which was big when abortion was a hot topic, is kind of ignored theses days. Abortion notwithstanding, I think we have lost sight of states rights as well as real statemanship.

  There is not even an attempt at any kind of dignity of respect in the political process.

  I saw a "debate" in Denmark and was reminded that some people have entirely topical conversations on issues and the only time politics were mentioned is as they were introduced In the discussion. No one went hollering about fake news, a previous administration or a failed candidate. That can still happen. Grown-up adults can still try to govern even when they have political differences. It was so refreshing.

  Would separating accomplish anything useful? With the clowns running this circus, I doubt it. They are no better than the inbred aristocracy that kept Europe warring for centuries.
