  it is called government work- it refers to gov employees being lazy and just getting a check.

  well it has to do with bethelites being too lazy to go out and get a real job so we do side jobs to make money while at bethel.

  and you can make alot if you are in the right "trade" electrician, plumber, tile setter, roofer, etc and it is all tax free.

  Well JT, I am not "truly sad" and was making a point about generalization. I guess it wouldn't bother you to read a post stating that all men were jerks...just a generalization. I just asked you not to lump all gov workers in one basket, I didn't attack you, didn't call you sad ..just gave you experience from being a government worker.

  Just a correction...not all government employees are lazy. I am a government employee, I don't have a state car, I don't have a fancy office. Any time off I have to earn. I have to account for my day in 30 minute increments on my time sheet. No one just gives me a check. Let's see I deal with abused children, the parents that abuse them and the women who have had the hell beaten out of them by their boyfriend, husband, live-in, I guess that makes my "free" check worthwhile. Oh and one more added bonus, I won't get a raise this year because the state I live in didn't pass a budget. Don't put all government workers in one basket, alot of us don't earn as much as you think we do. I have 3 children and me and them on my salary are below the federal poverty level for a family of four and I work 40 hours a week in this government job.

  sometimes, the gender of a poster is relatively easy to deduce due to their style of posting, and, dare i say it, their choice of vocabulatory.

  but sometimes it is difficult to know if you are "talking" to a man or a woman (or homosexual).

  Help Please, for a friend in crisis (non JW)

  this is totally non-jw related, but i have a close friend who is in turmoil at the moment and there are lots of great people here who are good with advice so any help would be appreciated.

  my friend, who ill refer to as katie has just found out some shocking info about her past.

  katies mum has been an alcoholic for about 15 years.

  I was watching a talk show the other day about paternity test and it was said on it that if the father wasn't available but a sibling or close relative of the father(grandfather) was they can do some kind of dna match because close relatives has similar dna patterns. She might want to inquire at one of those dna /paternity testing sites on the web. Just a thought!

  Francois and outoftheorg I agree with both of you!

  When I was reading that reply by Mr. Franz I got that same old feeling that I got when I used to read the Watchtower. I understand he is a very talented and eloquent writer but to me it was saying you are not that intelligent if you do not see things my way. Reference to blind faith, independent thinking..more of those little "go words" that have you wondering if someone is trying to talk over your head. With all respect to Mr. Franz he says he only wrote things that had been truly inspired by Holy Spirit. Well in my humble opinion...the Watchtower Society is a cult, has been a cult and will always be a cult. Their reasoning book, aid book, insight book is not inspired by God. It is cult material.The two witness rule taken literally, shunning taken literally....maybe none of it was meant to be taken literally but it has been and it has destroyed lives.When you are a faithful witness, you support those rules. I did, I am not proud of shunning anyone but I did it. I can't say now that I am out, well I never believed that was literal... I did it. My mind wascontrolled by the borg just like Ray, just like Bill and everyone else.As I said in a previous post, they are men doing the best that they can, neither is infallible,neither is perfect. Mr Franz helped many break free from the Watchtower, Bill Bowen has helped many break free from the silence imposed by the Watchtower. Bravo to the both of them.
