What Were Your Elders Real World Jobs?

we all know that education is severely demonized in this religion.

and that the elders are appointed based on how many meetings they attend, hours they put in on the ministry and general attitude to other elders (as apposed to, you know, actual theological training and counseling) - so my question is, what were your elders occupations outside the kingdom hall?.

Most were auto workers or machinists. One owned several rental properties. Another was a fire chief. And the oldest elder I swear by his dress was a pimp.

More speculation on Kingdom Hall closers and money grabbing?

there continues to be more and more rumors of more halls being sold off some even taking the first offer.

the borg trying to get thier bond money back from the court in san diego asap and there's been elders meetings about this consolidation.

my questions is why after selling off all this real estate in new york for over a billion dollars are they still acting like thier broke?

What I don't understand is what they will do once they sell off all these properties they currently have? They tried for a good year and a half to sell the kingdumb hall that I used to attend and nobody wanted it, either because they were asking way too much or because it didn't have a functioning kitchen.

These law suits are not going away if they keep their current policies and sooner or later (hopefully sooner) they are going to run out of things to sell.

It's pretty obvious as previous posters have stated that they are trying to become an E-entity. The lack of physical publications is quite telling as to their financial state.

Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians, why do so many ex JW's deny this?

jehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.

they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.

they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?

All I know is they deny the Christ by not partaking of the bread and the wine. They basically unknowingly say "No" to the flesh and blood of Christ. Therefore they are not saved according to their belief. They also choose and organization over Christ.

But honestly I could give a crap. They prove by their works they are not Christians by the way they treat outsiders and those who choose to leave the organization.

so this past week the wife and i have received several phone calls and text messages from our old hall.

we were also invited out to dinner to catch up with some old friends.

an hour before dinner this guys wife messaged my wife and said that she "can't wait for tonight!!

I think he believes I will call the elders to find out what's going on. I'm not. I sent him a message explaining that what he did affected not me, but my wife. For that he is and never was a friend. If the elders have a problem with me they can call me. They are just men, they have no authority over the wife and I. This was probably the best thing that could have happened.

Sadly my wife will now have to deal with her parents. I imagine it must be apostasy considering the guys wife and a few others have blocked contact with us.

I understand only because they are the victims here. They are under the mind control of Watchtower and this guy is the biggest company man wanna-be I have ever met. It comes to no surprise that he of all people would do something like this so when he canceled, I knew he wasn't a friend after all and it's better he and apparently his wife are out of our lives. Got no time for conditional friends anyways.

Last night we went to a wave of light ceremony in honor of pregnancy and infant loss and the wife got to see first hand that "worldly" people make better friends and are all around better people than the dubs could ever be.

Dinner in fact was awesome! Mediterranean food is our favorite. Deboned chicken and a garlic and butter sautéed shrimp. That, along with a nice reflective walk afterward turned out to be a nice evening.

It looks like today that the wife blocked us on Facebook. It's funny that everyone is shunning us and I don't get to know what awesome thing I did to get treated this way.🤗

Thanks for the comments. I consider this a blessing actually. We have been fading for the past year and this situation just accelerated our final curtain for the Watchtower. My wife, who was a very tough nut to crack, is disgusted and is happy to leave this chapter in our life behind. 👍👏👏🍾😇

So we get to the restaurant and they are late. 10 minutes after getting there we get a call and the guy says that they cannot come. I said it's ok we can try again another time. He says no that I need to "talk to the elders". 😳

Apparently these people are spreading rumors about some offense committed without my knowledge. And apparently this offense is so bad that we can't even have a meal with them!! Rude people.

Just curious - is apostasy grounds for divorce?

i know only adultery is supposed to be grounds for "scriptural" divorce.

i'm a wicked apostate in their eyes, but my believing husband and i still can't get a divorce that would allow him to remarry.

we currently are separated - i have left him.

The whole idea is goofy considering the whole religion is fake. I like Listeners idea of just telling the elders that you had a man friend sleep over. You don't have to go into detail. Just tell them and wiggle your eyebrows up and down and they'll get the point.

Which Org 'directives' did you blatantly ignore

i remember that we were always encouraged to let everyone at work know that you were one of jw's and therefore would not participate in any of their functions, parties etc.. this i outrightly refused to do.

my reasoning was that i was employed and paid to do a job and therefore my religious beliefs were a personal matter and therefore had nothing to do with my work.

secondly i had to work with these people.
