  When will the JW's start reversing?

  @navytown: I don't want to be the one who breaks the fun here but that's way too optimistic and futuristic way of viewing things, don't you think? We cannot even beat cancer and hepatitis.

  I believe there is potential in stem cell research but more time is being spent on arguing whether it's moral or not than solving the actual problems.

  Scientists are limited because of 'morals'. Imagine what they could achieve if the government let them experiment on human embrios (sorry for the off topic)

  JWs will stop growing somewhere in the future, but those who spent their youth in this cult are too pathetic and desperate to trade the hope of everlasting life for nothing.

  They won't admit that they are being f**ked over, that they are too plain stupid and emotional to deal with the real word.

  Baptism will slow down, but eventual decrease will only be due to death, and of course some being df-ed or da-ed.

  What I ( might ) have done if I was still "in"

  during lunch time, our doorbell rang today.

  you can guess what my first thought was, but i was wrong.. there was a polite young man ( on his own, not dragging a partner/child around with him), who was trying to.

  get people to subscribe to the local regional newspaper for a months free trial.. i smiled to myself when i thought of how a good jw is programmed to reply:.

  I can imagine a similar situation when JWs are asked who did they vote for. We all know very well how that conversation goes down: "Oh, I've already placed my vote for someone who will solve all the problems *blah blah blah* "

  idk about current policies but I was beaten several times. I don't blame my parents for it, i was a very energy rich kid, was very annoying sometimes. I would have done the same thing, but won't do it to my kids, that's for sure.

  The only problem is when parents hit because they are angry, that way beating is a childish way of finding a way to calm down.

  I know you people from the west will find my way of thinking not up to date with yours, but I think that discipline involves beating at a very small degree.

  University Application Personal Statement dilemma - Should I mention my jw past?

  i am applying to chemical engineering course in the uk through ucas (a lot of things changed since i've posted last time).. i have a lot of skills i developed while regular pioneering, like public speaking skills, ability to reason (even if it's bs), presentational skills etc.. i feel it would boost my personal statement a lot, but i'm also afraid they would say "this guy beleives in god, and loves science, he must be creationist.

  away with him".. how could i mention that i gave interviews front of thousands of people and did voluntary work in my hometown without giving a bad impression?.

  i don't want to go into details and start explaining myself that "however i don't beleive in god", or something like that.
