Ustabee,
I thought you had some really good points (questions) that also need to be addressed.
I welcome comments not only from Real Elder but other Elders that may be lurking.Dave,
My story would definitely make you think about things you are not ready to think about. As they said in a movie and several times on this board, "you want the truth, you can't handle the truth".
keep in mind truth shall set you, or someone else free.
Thank you to everyone posting on this topic. It is something that also plays on the minds of others, from posting I hope we all gain understanding.

questions for real elder
by joelbear inyou seem like a reasonable person.. how do you rationalize having discussions with exjws?
serious question.
not baiting you.. how do you view people like you know and friday who clearly do not show a loving approach towards presenting the pro-jw case in any arguments?.

A STRONG ORGANIZATION NEEDS NOT TO HIDE ANYTHING
by friendorfoe ini have been able to keep my feelings about the jw organization on the back burner for several years now after going thru therapy and several sleepless years but now its time to speak my peace.
this is my third time on this board and the sneaking and cover-ups of the organization disgusts me.
you would think that if they had god behind them that much no matter what happened within the organization they would deal with it the proper way including contacting the authortities when required they might get more respect from the outside.. i was always taught it was wrong to judge other people but it was the elders passing judgement and not god that ran me away.. to sum it up they are worried about the outside world judging the organization but they better pray that jehovah isn't half as judgemental as they are.

Also, they make every effort to comply with the law. This includes complying with laws that mandate reporting the incident to the proper authorities.
Does anyone know if it is a requirement to report by law in all the states?

Dave,
When we women have bad days we call it PMS. LOL!
On a serious note I want to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your mother. Such a helpless situation. Please know that we are here for you and realize that you are entitled to your feelings and thoughts good and bad, you have lived the hurt and pain and it needs to be told so the works of the org. are seen by all sides.

friendorfoe,
Welcome to the board. Gee, your name sounds sooooooo familiar I wonder where I have heard that before???
You are so right. The org. need to realize that because they think they are the forefront for Jehovah and carry his name on their lapel cards that Jehovah will be judged by the people of the org. and their wicked deeds. Not true. Imperfect man needs Jehovah, Jehovah doesn't need imperfect man. He needs no representatives.
PS. logical asked if you had your cap locks on because when you type in cap locks it represents shouting. Your post was loud and clear and needed to be!
We hope you become a regular as all input good or bad helps to pave a road that is full of pot holes. -

Real Elder,
I appreciate you being so honest. Your children must be grateful to you for the way they were raised.
How long ago has it been since you read Crisis of Conscience? & Have you also read In Search of Christian Freedom?
Another question, You stated:. If they were not, there would be an incredible amount of media coverage about this "cult".
Were you making a funny or do you think that JW's really are a cult? -

Winston,
I went over your post and could see nothing offensive.
It is your honest opinion and that is welcomed here.
I was wondering if you have any children?
I have a daughter, When I became a parent I told my mother " I understand now how much you love me".
I talk about unconditional love because love is an emotion that can't or shouldn't be turned on and off like a light switch.
Taking away our love should not be used as a form of punishment. We can expect our children to make mistakes or a wrong turn in life. What do we do about it? Try and be there for them no matter what.
When a parent treats a child like Shaneliza & Babykins have been treated, they have conditioned their love. Did they take wrong steps? Probably, but how can shutting them and their children out be of any help to show them needed changes in one's life? It will only make them bitter and less likely to see where they went wrong.
Yes, I agree unconditional love can only be proven in time. It is a gift you give and ask or expect nothing in return. You can have love for someone, and disapproval of there actions but that doesn't mean you take that love away. 1 Cor. 13:4-7 & 1 Peter 4:8
