Brain Dead
by Free2Bme injust like to comment on the brain deadening effect of the jw way of life.
it's bizarre how completely oblivious they are to major issues such as doctrinal changes !
it's like they just calmly accept anything the org says without engaging their thought processes.. the 'generation' change was pretty amazing and would affect their door-to-door message in a big way yet it seemed to be met with a collective shrug.. i can remember triumphantly waving matt24:34 in many an impatient householders face as conclusive proof the end was nigh.. even more baffling is the fact that if i had been a bit of a swat and decided the society had got it wrong and the generation referred to the wicked generation rather than a generation of people alive in 1914 who would witness the end i would probably have been in big trouble and labelled 'apostate'.. it's as if the worldwide congregation is in a trance.

If I'd Known Then What I Know Now.
by Englishman inif i'd known then what i know now, i would have realised that the vague prospect of everlasting life in the company of other witnesses, was not enough reason to give up all the pleasurable things in this life.. if i'd known then what i know now, i would not have spent many years appeasing my jw parents.
i would not have waited 12 years before saying that df'ing was their problem, not mine, and how dare they question how i live my life and bring up my children?
i'm the one setting the right example by loving them without any conditions being attached.. if i'd known then what i know now, i would have accepted that most people are kind and helpful whenever possible.

"Well Rounded JW Kids"
by LDH inwell, my parents (from ny) came out to visit a couple of weeks ago, no notice or anything (they live 3,000 miles away) and knocked on my door on a friday evening.. as hubby was not home from work yet, and i was laying down from yet another migraine, i got extremely agitated when the doorbell rang.
now, i don't open my door for anyone when i'm not feeling well.
to make a long story short, it was my parents, who spent about 6 days.

ARE AVERAGE JWs DECEPTIVE?
by Amazing ini ask this because on this and other forums that have a large share of former jws, our stated experiences and encounters during and after our jw membership seem to reflect that the wts and its body of believers are most corrupt.
likewise, those never associated who read our posts may get the impression that even visiting a kingdom hall may result in serious negative events.. i believe that it is important to remind everyone that the average jw is a generally good person.
most try to live good lives, act on their beliefs, and promote what they feel is the truth.

One time I was in service with an elders wife. She pointed out the next house where a sister and young children were sitting outside, and she said we are not supposed to talk to her, well I always the sister and our kids played together. The point is she said it with an air of evilness, instead of it coming as bible based, even with myself I ran into an old friend we pioneerd together , I said hello, and the other sister yelled , real loud , we are supposed to talk to you , you are dfsp, No I am not I said, I spoke to an elder and he said I dont think you are. There should have an apolgy coming for the lie spread, but there was none. Most of them are deceptive. How can love for an org. come before family, how can a mother forget the love she had for her children, or grandparents forget the love their grandchildren reguire from them. WE all know that feeling when something is not right, God gave it to us. When I left a sister said to me if you go you will lose all your friends, never mind that I would lose my life in gods book, so she is staying in the org. for friendship not her relationship with god. As you said god is not using the Wt and I believe most of them know it, yet they still go door to door, that is being deceptive. The pain that they have caused and still it goes on to so many people on this board. Can they really be sincere and not deceptive? nojw

Rutherford as a Bible scholar.
by larc ini have read some very interesting posts from norm, focus, farkel, jan, and alan f regarding the silliness of the wt.
(if i left someone out i apologize forthwith.
i have decided to enter my analysis of joseph franklin rutherford to the mix.. during rutherford's administration, he was referred to as "the world's foremost bible scholar.

I was allergic to the Watchtower
by professor inas a boy, i would suffer severe attacks of sneezing, itchy eyes, and post nasal drip when i would read the watchtower.
it was especially noticable during our family watchtower study.
i began to think it was the paper its printed on.

To LDH Role of Anointed
by Amazing inhi ldh: i brought this to the top because i felt it warranted some extra attention given that this is a core feature of the watch tower religion.. during my 27 years with the organization, i was openly of the anointed for about 20 years.
i served as an elder and ms, often being involved in aux.
pioneering, circuit parts and district convention support.

Amazing, I am learning so much by posters such as yourself, thank you, when we stared studying , it was with one of the anointed, not an elder though, he told us why I still don't know he told us, he said that he was under the eye of the local elders, and that he was not used as much in the cong. And now I see as you said he was kept under scrunity. Thanks again for your post. nojw
