  Would you forgive the shunners?

  if after all the years of being shunned by family , friends , would you forgive or forget them and all the misery they handed you, or maybe let them think about it for somtime before you talked to them again.

  of course this can only happen freely if they left the org.

  i couldn't stay away.

  i love you guys.. abaddon's and ldh's recent posts hit close enough to home that i decided to post again.. i think the selected memory and split personalities go hand in hand.. the selected memory helps keep the cult personality happy and gleaming no matter what damage the suppression does to the real human or the real human's family and friends.. a couple of years ago i was talking about my childhood with my parents and they both acted stunned when i said i was still angry with them because they didn't want me to go to college (i gave up several scholarship offers, etc.

  to become a pioneer and eventually go to bethel).

  Smurfs

  by now most of us have heard the urban legends of smurfs vs. jw's.. such as smurf dolls walking down kingdom hall aisles or strangling jw babies (replaced dingos eating them in australia lol).. the initial problem jw's had with smurfs was that on the tv show they were conjuring up spells, later more ummm "enlightened" jw viewers started questioning a community of all males with only one female (smurfette).. so jw's felt that it was not appropriate for jw children to watch shows about magic.. it is this same reasoning that has scared some away more recently rom harry potter novels and pokemon.. it was stupid when it involved smurfs and is just as stupid now.

  but there ya have it, the main reasons (if you can call them that...) that jw's hate smurfs and developed such wild stories to enforce their opinion.. kismet

  Demonic , all I have say that I would like to put a smurf in their book bags so when they go to the door and pull out a mag. a smurf will pop out, see them run spare the householder their demonic presentation. I guess I am in a bad mood today. nojw

  it is mainly about my cousin, who asked me to write it for her, but it is also my story.

  Mulan, That may have been one of the first stories I read after my cancer operation. What a cruel thing to say not treating someone who is dfsp. I t brought back tears again, I'm such an emotional fool. Yet I did hit with something along those lines also. A cousin said to me , I told her I was praying my cancer would not spread , well it might help if you were praying to the right God. I prayed that she would never call me again. Well it is one year later and she did'nt. Would like to hear more of your story. nojw

  Sorry to hear of your friends death. So sad when hope runs out on many of us, and depression set in, but reading your post maybe other on the board can be helped to see a way out. Prayers to you and his family. nojw

  Brain Dead

  just like to comment on the brain deadening effect of the jw way of life.

  it's bizarre how completely oblivious they are to major issues such as doctrinal changes !

  it's like they just calmly accept anything the org says without engaging their thought processes.. the 'generation' change was pretty amazing and would affect their door-to-door message in a big way yet it seemed to be met with a collective shrug.. i can remember triumphantly waving matt24:34 in many an impatient householders face as conclusive proof the end was nigh.. even more baffling is the fact that if i had been a bit of a swat and decided the society had got it wrong and the generation referred to the wicked generation rather than a generation of people alive in 1914 who would witness the end i would probably have been in big trouble and labelled 'apostate'.. it's as if the worldwide congregation is in a trance.

  If I'd Known Then What I Know Now.

  if i'd known then what i know now, i would have realised that the vague prospect of everlasting life in the company of other witnesses, was not enough reason to give up all the pleasurable things in this life.. if i'd known then what i know now, i would not have spent many years appeasing my jw parents.

  i would not have waited 12 years before saying that df'ing was their problem, not mine, and how dare they question how i live my life and bring up my children?

  i'm the one setting the right example by loving them without any conditions being attached.. if i'd known then what i know now, i would have accepted that most people are kind and helpful whenever possible.

  over a year ago i divorced my husband.

  he is the son of an elder, was addicted to pornography, and started doing drugs before i called it quits.

  since then, i have met someone else.

  Welcome, This is the place to be, it will a place to learn, and heal at the same time. People here are here offer help they have been through many similar situations as well. I have been helped a lot. My guilty feelings are gone, pain, well thats something for me to still work on. But stay and ask ? and hopfully help comes through. nojw
