Just Bumped Into My JW Sister And Brother In Town
by pale.emperor inso im walking through town today on my lunchbreak and spot the unmistakable walk of my younger brother.
this is the one who left watchtower... well it turns out he's returned to the vomit after stupidly turning up to the 2017 convention and a few elders filling his head with seeing our dead dad in paradise and to "wait on jehovah".. a few meters behind him was my sister.
she spotted me first, then hurried up her step to my brother.

I experienced a similar reaction last week. Was in line at the hardware store when I noticed the guy in front of me was an area elder who I had known through mutual friends. He was chatting and laughing with the checker until he noticed it was me and his entire body stiffened up and he froze. He was waiting on someone from the back who was doing a price check, so it was 5 solid minutes of him with his back to me stiff as a board and you could feel the "terror" of his being so close to the devil himself. Really sad in retrospect, grown man terrified because I have a differing opinion on religion.

Tattoos In the Kingdom?
by Cold Steel inwith tattoos becoming ever more popular in today's culture, i couldn't help but wonder what happens when people with ostentatious tattoos seek baptism?
are they admitted?
many don't have the money to have them removed, yet i can't imagine they'd be allowed to do pioneer work.

My wife was used on an assembly experience part a couple years back and the CO made her cover up her tats. It was a factor in her waking up, so we are glad it happened. It's amazing how whitewashed they want things to be. If someone is up on the stage telling their life story about coming in from out of "the world" wouldn't them being as genuine and real as possible be the best thing? Nope. Everyone needs to look picture perfect 1950s. Ridiculous really.

Watchtower & Guns
by freemindfade inapparently jehalapeno isn't a 2nd amendment supporter either.... .
july 17 questions from readers.... the way this part is worded screams cult to me, i was quite amused.. how a christian chooses to protect himself, his family, or his possessions is, of course, largely a personal matter, as is his choice of employment.. geee!
thanks watchtower for allowing me to "largely chose my own employment" you are a generous cult lol.

I have a Ruger .357 Magnum with 6 inch barrel. No permit required here in Texas unless you open carry. No apologies owning it while I was in, no apologies now. Here in Tejas, most of the Brethren look the other way if they themselves don't own one. Lots do. One of our elders was a very outspoken proponent and owner of many guns. Funny how everyone follows the Borg's direction until it's something they really want to do, huh?

I find it interesting they quote Noam Chomsky in the propaganda article (who I'm a fan of) who is an outspoken atheist. As I've stated before their ignorance about some of the people they quote is baffling (although not really for the least educated religion)
That being said, he is an atheist and his condemnation of religion has been scathing:
How do I define God? I don’t. Divinities have been understood in various ways in the cultural traditions that we know. Take, say, the core of the established religions today: the Bible. It is basically polytheistic, with the warrior God demanding of his chosen people that they not worship the other Gods and destroy those who do — in an extremely brutal way, in fact. It would be hard to find a more genocidal text in the literary canon, or a more violent and destructive character than the God who was to be worshiped.
Then there's this great trib photo in the next article on gun ownership, how did any of us believe this crap?

Has anyone here joined a different church after ditching the JWs?
by NikL ini am just curious.. i have a cousin who is a baptist and his church streams their sunday services and i've been checking them out before i go to meeting with my jw wife.. i haven’t been to a church except for the occasional funeral and wedding and the only sermons i had heard were the tel-evangelist type.
anyway, all the church bashing by jws over the years made me unsure what to expect and i was pleasantly surprised.
they do use the bible and they don't spend the whole time begging for money.

I will never join another religion. I do practice yoga 3 times a week and enjoy reading Buddhist writings, but that's about as far as I'm willing to go. The only part of the Bible I have any respect for anymore is what Jesus himself said, which is right in line with what Buddha taught, and in a nutshell it's: be a kind person. How the rest plays out, not a single person has the answer to and never has. I will continue to concentrate on trying to be a good neighbor and that will have to be good enough.
