all good jws should be at the convention - if they are using public/football ground car parks, then it will be easy to target their vehicles and put a leaflet on them.

i found this material on a pro-jw newsletter, and i've had this personal experience myself and know many others who have also.
before i became a jw i experienced a tremendous amount of "love" from the congregation i associated with, but once baptized they leave and move on to the next potential convert.
as a single person, i was never invited out to gatherings very much and always felt a little left out in the very clique-ish congregation that i attended.
I left the org in October 01 and received ONE visit from the elders, who said they would call back.................I'm still waiting!!!!!
Not that I am wanting them to call - but if they are doing what they are supposed to be doing - they should have called back!!
If you are in the accepted "group" at the kingdom hall then you are ok all the while you are jumping through all the right hoops, and are not questionning any of it. The moment you do - you are dropped so quickly!

There is a Ned Flanders down the road from me! The whole family are "perfect JWS", so blinkered I am amazed they can see!
I can set my watch by them - Every Tuesday and Thursday evening they are out the door on the button, all dressed in their suits, and mum in a JW dress (not short, not low cut, not tight, not anything really!!).
Field service on Saturdays and meetings on Sunday. (They are actually due back any minute) - Yep there they are!!! I can see them from where I am typing. My God this is scarey!

A bit like the "Rabbit Song" from Winnie the Pooh's Most Grand Adventure (Walt Disney 1997). It describes JWs perfectly - let me illustrate:

well, i just got back from yet another summer ass-marathon.
seventeen hours of sitting in hockey arena seats that were made for three hour games, trying to stay awake, while not losing contact with my extremities.. needless to say, the program was dull and boring.
in fact, i'm not completely sure that they didnt just re-run last year's.
Our local venue over the last few years for the district convention was in an indoor entertainment centre, which of course provided its own food (and cost a fortunue!).
So if you had picnics, you had to either eat them in the UNDERGROUND multistorey car park, or on the beach - which is fine if it isn't raining. And this is England. It always rains!
I remember ONE DAY, it wasn't raining and the book study conductor/elder was saying that it was Jehovah's blessing on the arrangement because it allowed his people to eat lunch on the beach.
In which case what the HELL did we do to upset Jehovah the other two days when it rained and we had to eat in semi-darkness in a cold car park, and trying to feed/change a 12 month old baby?
The same elder looked at me with disbelief when i told him categorically that I hate assemblies, they are a waste of time. You would think he would have got the hint that maybe I wasn't quite so enamoured of the WT society arrangements as I should have been??

I wasn't intend to criticise the transfusion safety record in USA, just trying to make the point that Violet is making her choice bearing in mind that she would be accepting blood in USA. I am making mine, knowing I would receive blood in the UK.
Different countries have different screening methods - not saying any of them are necessarily better or worse than others.

I always wondered about the symposiums as well - what is the point? Why not just have them as separate talks - you are right, it doesn't make them any more exciting or any less dull!
One thing I used to hate was having to wear decent summer clothes in a football or rugby ground that was designed for spectators wearing jeans, jumpers and heavy coats. Every time you put your Bible or songbook down on the floor, you pick it up again and it was covered in dirt. Very apt really! Did they KNOW they were destined for the local rubbish dump?

yesterday, before we went to dinner at mak and sabine's, a friend called me from the kh to warn me they had mom on the phone link for the meeting (their meeting is at 4pm).
i went downstairs to see what she was up to, since i had taken the phones out, to stop her from calling everyone in town to complain about the 'abuse she was suffering' at the hands of her daughter (me).
she was standing over the speaker phone (i had taken the hand set off), and she was furiously pushing buttons, and sobbing.

I know i keep bashing on about UK Mental Health Act 1983, but there MUST be an equivalent in the USA that you should be able to access and use.
It is very routine for a social worker and two psychiatrists to assess a person in their own home and determine that they are suffering from a mental illness of a nature or degree that requires treatment in a hospital.
If the person in the community is refusing to go into hospital, whether they have the capacity to make the decision or not, provided they are suffering from a mental illness, then they are taken against their will into hospital, and treated against their will.
The other option is for the Nearest Relative (strict legal order would be: husband/wife; son/daughter(over 16 years); mother/father; brother/sister etc etc). The Nearest Relative has the power to make an application for a mental health act assessment - this is used where you cannot get hold of a social worker. What usually happens is that the hospital will contact an emergency duty social worker to take the responsibility from you - that way on the paperwork it is not YOU that is putting your mother in hospital, but the mental health professionals.
During this process your mother will probably deny that she has an illness and make out that you are the worst person on the planet. PLEASE do not take any notice of this - it usually happens. But once the person is stabilised on the correct medication, then their balance of mind will often improve to a point where your relationship with your mother could continue on a more even keel. Maybe once your mother is ready to be discharged back into the community, she could be discharged to a warden accommodation, or residential home - the mental health care team will have all the information you need.
Please ask the mental health professionals for help. They KNOW what can be done and the options available to you in your country. I can only give you guidance based on UK law.

hello, i'm doing some research, and i was wondering if the watchtower has had any legal action taken against it for mis-quoting someone (specifically the 1985 creation book), as this book especially is notorious for a few mis-quotes.
