I definitely do not consider myself an apostate as I have grown closer to God since I've left and it infuriates me when my family uses that word to describe me. I don't even really speak out against JWs all that much, I simply speak the truth about them, there is a difference though they don't see it that way =/

Do You Consider yourself an Atheist / Agnostic / or Christian? Reasons ?
by flipper inafter having been raised in the jehovah's witnesses for 44 years ( getting out 6 years ago ) i have now come to peace with my view of what i personally feel about the existence of god , or no god, or whatever is flying around up there in outer space.
i am basically agnostic for sure / perhaps leaning atheist and i've come to that decision based on the years and years of unfulfilled false promises of being in a mind control cult ( jehovah's witnesses ) claiming to represent an alleged " god " or " jehovah " saying there would be a paradise, and armageddon to destroy 99% of the earths population.
also- i enjoy helping others without thought of being rewarded for it.

I'm a Christian, probably going to take the Lord's Supper tomorrow at church for the first time =) I'm a Christian because I've always believed the Bible, but I've always struggled with the JW ideas of God and Jesus and reading the Bible, even the NWT really opened my eyes to who Jesus really is, my Savior, not just some servant of God.

Should we not continue in like manner in the writing of more comments, brothers? We should keep strict watch about how we walk, that we walk not as drunkards returning to our vomit and then commencing to drink all the more but as those who keep all things in moderation ok i can't write like this anymore or my brain will implode but someone keep the thread going because i totally have been roflmao-ing. (it's 1:30 in the morning, don't mind me...)

my diehard jw wife has never had a bible study...
by oompa ini mean how many of them really even want that?...most jws give away any interested person to a good ol pioneer..and not sure how many of them really want to make a disciple either....i mean she drives around endlessly with her chick friends...lots of starbucks...dunkin and kk...and they dont want a frikkin study....really????
?...........just a vent...oompa.
btw in my legal divorce papers response today i did say she was not blameless...stated that chose to be part of a religious sect that shuns me totally since i am no longer a believer...and that it has caused me extreme distress and anxiety....

I never had any real studies. I read the Bible Stories book to a 6 year old or something when I was like, 10 and I counted it as a study somewhat, though I was not baptized. No clue if I counted it as one on the slips though.
In 5th grade I was "friends" with a mentally unstable/mentally handicapped girl and I used to pray for her at recess, like we'd sit on the picnic table and I'd try to teach her how to pray and then just do it myself. I got in a lot of trouble at that school for passing around the Young People Ask book (probably because it had subjects like Masturbation...How Do I Resist The Urge? When I think about it now I'm mortified!!) Anyway about the girl, my mom tried to study with the girl's mom but my mom said they had demons and we weren't going back again. Dunno if they really did, they were both nuts...and Catholic lol.
I used to give a boy Awakes in high school because my dub guy friend said he knew him and that he was interested but he (the high school guy) was afraid to get caught because his family hated dubs and he might get shipped off to Mexico if he got caught. It may have been a load of bull, no clue. The boy did take the mags, I suspect he probably threw them out later. I believe he's gay now...
That's about it for me...it used to depress me so much, like my actual worth as a human depended on me studying a book with someone and getting them to get baptized...blah what a life....

There must be JWs in my neck of the woods...
by Aussie Oz in16 months and counting...no visit by a carload of time wasters doing rural witnessing.. i'm home everyday except when i am not, same for the wife, and still no visits.. either the closest congregation are real slack or there are none assigned to our locality!.
mixed bag, depending on what i have been reading, i would either want to play with them nicely or sting em up by their thumbs.... maybe it's best they stay away.... oz.

I never see them here lately and the Kingdumb Hell is only like 3 miles away or less from me. Not that I'd really want to see any, I kind of freak out for a second when I see one. =P

How Many Out There Have to Hide or Be Stealthy When They Visit This Site? I know I do.
by PaintedToeNail ini cannot look at this site freely, it would make my hubby and son very upset.
i have to hide what i'm looking at, or try to view this page very late or very early in the morning.
hubby has taken to getting up at 11:30pm or later, to see what i'm doing on the computer.

I was sneaky with this site (and others) at first only because my husband has never been an JW (he's a Christian) and I had been very into the JW stuff for awhile and I didn't want him to know I was having doubts but eventually I just told him and he didn't bat an eyelash. If I was living with my mother still though I would have to be pretty careful deleting my history and stuff, but at least she let me have the computer in my room so I could close the door and if she opened it I'd have time to close the page at least.
I think in your case, just tell them you're looking at something embarassing, like say you think you're having a female problem and are looking it up. "I need a little privacy, do you mind?" and smile and try to blush. That's what I would do anyway, with the husband that is. Not sure if that would help you or if you would feel too much like you were lying.

In these the final hours, do we not see our spouses slumbering on as the rest do while we yet remain awake on this wicked and lawless internet? Perhaps it may be beneficial for us also to rest, now that is night, for the hour is coming that we must awake and rise up and lay down and inculcate things on our hearts and on our minds, though we know not what inculcating means, though it sounds slightly erotic, brothers, does it not? Nevertheless, we must not allow ourselves to yet grow weary, for you wives must go and launder your husband's uniforms and be busy in God's (your husband's) service! "Go and eat the fatty things, and go eat the sweet things!^ Drink, and get drunk, and puke and fall down!*" (Hilarities 45:6)
^ "And he went on to say to them: “Go, eat the fatty things and drink the sweet things, and send portions to the one for whom nothing has been prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord, and do not feel hurt, for the joy of Jehovah is YOUR stronghold.”" Nehemiah 8:10
* That is an actual scripture in the NWT which used to send my sister and I into fits of giggles: “And you must say to them, ‘This is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said: “Drink and get drunk and puke and fall so that YOU cannot get up because of the sword that I am sending among YOU .”’ Jeremiah 25:27

What do you mean about collection plates? My church has a basket that a guy holds by the door, if you want to put in money you can, if not, you don't have to and no one looks at you funny at all. It's basically a walking contribution box. No one forces you to put in money if you don't want to.
