We just talked about this in church recently, we saw these funny/weird teeshirts with Jesus holding an AK-47, a skinny Jesus that looked like he woudln't hurt anyone, etc. I'm more a Democrat than a Republican, (if I were to vote at all) but I think Jesus is kind, loving, but not a pushover and can exact judgement in a way that would be scary for people who deserved it. But I also think he's approachable and reasonable, totally unlike the GB.

Your own personal Jesus
by Stealth ininteresting article on liberal christains vs conservative christains view of jesus.
if jesus is anything like the governing body of jehovah's witnesses, i don't want anything to do with him.
my jesus is a rebel!.

Honestly I don't think most of the teens care about CoC, or the cult's history. I think they're just tired of it all and want to have some fun. I wasn't interested in any of that til my non-JW husband converted to Christianity. I think most teens would think it was boring, at least the teens I knew.

Do you or someone else know any tips to help my mom? She's a born-in like me, in her 50s and has never really been "outside." I sent her another Bible translation (ESV because it's easy to read and very literal) and she seemed happy, but then told me "Psalm 83:18 isn't accurate" (since it doesn't say Jehovah). Sometimes she seems like part of her believes it's not the truth but I have to be so careful what I say because if I go one step too far she gets all uber-dub on me, like right now she's pioneering and bragging about it to me, but before she'd been telling me how depressing everything is in her hall. It's like she wants to tell me but is afraid.

in accordance with the resolution of congress of april 2nd, and with the proclamation of the president of the united states of may 11, it is suggested that the lord's people everywhere make may 30th a day of prayer and supplication.
god was graciously pleased to cause the nation to be formed and to grow under the most favorable conditions in the world for the preservation of liberty, civil and religious.

Question for elders about MEMORIAL EMBLEMS...
by Alfred inwhat is done with the bread and the wine after the conclusion of the memorial?.
is it normally tossed in the trash and poured down the drain?.
if so, wouldn't that be simbolic of throwing jesus' body in the trash and pouring his blood into the sewer?.

When I was a kid, my dad was an elder and our family was in charge of providing the matzoh and wine. The wine was poured back in the bottle and the matzoh back in the box it came in and when we got home from the meeting my parents would drink the wine while giggling and saying "we're so naughty" or "I wonder if we'll go to heaven now ha ha ha" etc. and even let my sister and I try a little bit. The matzoh was pretty bland and not great but it all seemed like we shouldn't touch that stuff, like it was "special" or something.

Attended a JW funeral the other day
by uk_ex_jw ini had an account on here sometime ago but forgot the login, but i often read the site.. a long-term friend of mine, a jw, asked me to go to his grandmothers jw funeral a few weeks ago.. i was hesitant obviously.
i haven't been to a kh in over 5 years.. i am not df/da.
i decided to quit in 2007 following my failed marriage to a jw.. the person who died was a very well-respected jw pioneer.

Reading about all these JW funerals lately, I just told my husband (never was a JW) that I DO NOT want one at a KH unless my mom does one for me up north, I want it at my church and if my mom/family asks my husband if she can come to one down here that he should say only if she/they go to my church because there will not be one at the KH here.

I think I'm going to keep an eye out for them and then actually answer the door (for once, I usually hide) and tell them "I converted to Christianity, so I'm not going, instead I'll be going to my church for Easter to see Handel's "Messiah" being performed and the Stations of the Cross" then watch their eyes get all huge. LOL.

If Jehovah's Witnesses Were Right...
by lilbluekitty inif they (or the governing body) were right: (fill in the blank).
- the bible (even their own) would have lies in it, which would mean the whole bible would be a lie.
- jesus' blood wouldn't really save anyone (so what would be the point of him dying for us).

Jesus would just be a lowly servant of God or just be Michael the Archangel and not the Holy Son of God.

- Jesus' blood wouldn't really save anyone (so what would be the point of him dying for us)
- There would be no such thing as God's grace (undeserved kindness)
- The end would have come multiple times already
- Only 8 million or so (is it 8 million yet or still 7.5?) people alive right now would be saved
- Heaven would be small (because only 144,000 people would fit)
