If Jehovah only saves JWs, then why does he keep saving me? I'm a Christian now! LOL.

How have you fared since leaving the Jehovah's Witnesses?
by God_Delusion inhowdy guys and gals!.
personally, my life has been fantastic.
it's like a massive weight has been lifted off of me, especially when it comes to having to go to the meetings.

My life now, though still a work-in-progress is going quite well for the most part, considering the fact that with the exception of 4 or so members of my family, all now shun me and my uncle is harassing my sister (who also left just recently!) and me. I stopped going to meetings back in July, it will be a year in a week or two(!), started researching JW history and flip-flopping doctrines in October, going to church in November, joined my church in March (or so) and got baptized in my church in April. Non-spiritual news aside I got my ears pierced and got my hair cut quite short right after I stopped going to meetings, started learning to play the ukulele and now I have a job after not having one for nearly 8 years. I've grown much closer to my husband and his family and am making friends for pretty much the first time in my life. I'm considering going back to college soon and learning to drive (if I can get over the fear of it!) and advancing my career. It stinks that most of my family has either treated me so badly or outright shuns me but I'm actually happier now that they aren't constantly beating me down now and i can live my life mostly in peace. I love the freedom of being able to believe what I want and researching the things I believe without fear. I can live without fear now and I feel so much closer to God as well. I truly believe he helped me get out from the Watchtower's mental prison. :)

A question specially for ladies ...
by Dudu indid you change the way you dress after leaving the wt?.

I definitely have an aversion to wearing skirts, even short skirts at times. I just feel so "witnessy" wearing them. I do dress rather nice at work but always pants, tasteful makeup but definitely more than I used to wear, comfy shoes and colorful blouses.
For casual I almost always wear dark jeans, sneakers, and funky teeshirts. I wear cross necklaces from time to time and I mostly only dress up for Christmas and Easter. I wore spider earrings this past Halloween, that was fun :)
I look different now though to the JWs who still bug me at my door from time to time...I chopped my hair right around the time I stopped attending meetings so it's now a feminine pixie, got my ears pierced and have funkier glasse. I used to have really long hair and dress rather conservatively. Now I just LOOOVE wearing jeans and such to church...I live in TX so everyone is super casual around here compared to up north.
I love the freedom I have!!!

I wasn't allowed to be in sports or any after school activities til high school and I was only allowed in 2 clubs: French Club and Equestrian Club but not on the days when there were meetings. I think my sister was in some sort of art club and in band but only during school, not after school. I never understood why our mom let us go. No sports though, not that we were that interested in that anyway.

Wizard of Oz
by dontplaceliterature ini know plenty of jehovah's witnesses who own and love this movie.
in addition to that, i know some who are big fans of the musical, wicked.
i suppose anything having to do with these will be lumped into the garbage by end of summer?.

I know plenty of JWs who love Lord Of The Rings too, "oh it's okay to watch, there's no magic in it..." right, even though Gandalf is a wizard and he battles the demon Balrog...and there's elves and dwarves and all that...

Did you go out door to door after you knew you were finished.
by GeneM ini did for a year.
i falsified reports, had fake rv's, told groups i was meeting up with other groups and went home just to show a presense.
i wasn't fading though, because of my situation i had to play like everything was fine.

I was mentally off service for a long time, before I even stopped believing the lie, I just had it and was getting burned out in service...once I was reproved I drifted off for awhile but still believed and barely went in service, then when I was finally waking up, I barely went. I did a brief stint of going out on a somewhat regular basis after this annoying woman wanted me to go with her all the time but I almost never talked at the door, I think I just read the Bible Stories book to a little girl once about Abraham or something. Finally I just stopped going out and eventually quit meetings. I just never went back after that, it's been almost a year now since I last went to a meeting. W00T!
Oh, I faked service hours a few times at the end too to keep them off my back, then I got tired of lying and just didn't answer their calls anymore.

Kids on Leashes at Conventions.
by Diest indid you ever see those parents with kids on leashes at conventions?
i always disliked it and thought it was wierd/lazy...granted i have never been a parent so maybe i dont know.
video reminded me how silly/messed up those leashes are.. .

My mom used to put my sister and I on those stupid leashes for couple conventions in the early 90s or late 80s...it was embarassing and weird. My mom was emotionally and physically abusive though so maybe it was part of her problems that she did that to us.

Jehovah's Witnesses And The Paranormal
by Cold Steel ini understand that the jehovah's witnesses are paranoid when it comes to the paranormal.. how far do the roots of this paranoia go?
has anyone ever had any personal paranormal experiences or know of anyone who has (first hand)?.
and what are some of the more popular stories that get retold in jw circles?.

Visions and Revelation

That or they're considered demonized and sincee they don't do exorcisms, they don't do anything about that except avoid you or tell you you must have some evil object in your home or you're doing something bad and it will stop if you stop doing whatever it is. They don't believe in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit either like speaking in tongues, healing, etc. They say those things have been "done away with" after the 1st century based on some scripture that says that eventually those things would cease, though I may be misquoting, as it is after midnight and I'm sleepy.
