This past Mon. I had to have a hysterectomy and some other repairs. I told the Doc that since I'm going under anyway, if you see something that needs fixing, do it....and he went to town! I must add how freeing it was not to bring up the blood issue. I gave permission for a transfusion if needed. (turned out I didn't) Had a rough couple of days after bc I was allergic to the pain drip.
Anyway, I'm home now, the operation went well, I'm feeling MUCH better, and soon I'll be better than before. Yet today I'm feeling very LOW and LONELY. I'm no longer a JW and there is 0 contact with former friends and family except MIL (in) and daughter (out). Daughter lives far away, been out for 5 years, doesn't "get me". She was never as true a believer, sacrificed nothing, had a nice childhood, and was only baptized a couple of years before she decided to live a "worldly life". She had virtually no "skin in the game". On the other hand, I had an abusive upbringing, 50+ years "publishing and pioneering", and abandoned all hopes, dreams and ideas of my own. I didn't leave because I wanted to break any "rules", I was truely stumbled. (a separate thread)
Out only 2 months, there has been no time to replace friends and family. We also have been SEVERELY affected by the ecconomic downturn. Hubby understandably tense and preoccupied trying to start a new business and career even as we speak.
Sooooo, it's Christmas tomorrow and the neighbors have offered to send a plate of turkey home with hubby if he will walk over and get it. He accepted. Why am I so blue? Does anyone relate? Sorry, I guess I needed to vent.

Steadfast in the Truth
new in the Truth
born in the Truth
out of the Truth
drifting away from the Truth
left the Truth
married in/out of the Truth
Now I'll add a personal pet peeve of mine: Someone who asks me, "Do you want to know the truth?" "No I want you to lie to me."

This IS NOT the religion I grew up in or STUPID enough to join - true? YES! vote
by hamsterbait ini have just finished ray franz "crisis of conscience":.
i agree with him that this "truth" has become like living in a police state, in fear of saying or doing anything that might even retroactively label you a "wicked person".
i was dragged up from the late 60s.

After a woman is batered and the man brings her presents and "makes nice", there is a "honeymoon period". For the WT$ it was the Knorr years. While I have good memories of good times with good people during those years, we can never forget the Kool-aid we drank at the time. Innocent children died because of the blood doctrine, families were torn apart due to disfelloshipping, people postponed marriage, having children, education, providing for retirement, owning a home. Teachings that went "beyond what is written" have proven to be a "curse" .
The religion has changed less than many think.

Keeping in mind the advice here, as somene who has "been there", do everything in your power to save your marriage that makes sense to YOU. If it works, GREAT...if not, you will always be at peace knowing you did all you could do within your power to give your marriage your "all".

IMHO, The best advice you have received is to seek professional marriage counciling. If she agrees to go with you that is a good 1st sign that she is willing to work on the relationship. If she refuses...well that is also a sign. Either way you need to know if you even have enough to salvage.
My ex and I benefitted from counciling. Even tho we ended the marriage I could sleep soundly at night knowing I had exausted every possible avenue to save it. Because the therapist is an impartial 3rd party(no dog in the fight like the elders) it's easier to take their advice . Every case is different. In mine, the professional couldn't believe I had put up with so much and stayed so long. He explained the issues and helped me to reason without all the drama. No matter what the out come you will get through this. ((((((hugs))))))

The more stories I read on JWN make me long to go back to the hall...
by serenitynow! ini read the stories of those stuck in, or those who are out but still experience unwelcome, intrusive visits from dubs and i want to go to your hall.
or be at your house when the jackass elders come over.
i could say all the things you want to but can't because you're afraid to out yourself, or because you are just really nice.
