(((((((((((peridotgreen)))))))))))) I'm terribly sorry your family is suffering. Life is very fragile and one never knows what to expect. Maybe that is for the best. If we knew ahead of time the chalanges we would face we might not be able to bear it. I'm glad you have a brighter outlook for your Father than you did as a JW.
Your grandson has youth on his side. Hopefully, he will beat his health problems soon. He is loved by you and his family and that will help in fighting his illness. May your faith and good memories give you comfort.

Fernando, I can relate! In my case, I had parents who were introduced to to the WT$ as children from THEIR parents. However, when my parents were young children the "Society" was still celebrating hollidays and made little or no mention of being No part of the "world". Basically it became the family religion for them without any hardships or trauma. My parents were not babtized until they were adults. Sizemik mentioned the frog in the hot water illistration. This was true for my parents who had the water turned up for them by Rutherford.
By the time I was born, they were card carring cult members. Watchtower doctrine and rules were presented to me as facts. The same way children are taught the sky is blue, the grass is green, they added, Gods name is Jehovah, the Watchtower Society is the ONLY way to survive Armageddon. (which is comming any time now.) They were oblivious to the pain I experienced being a JW kid. I hated that our way of life was the "Truth" but they effectively convinced me it was. Even though I hated being different, I thought it was necessary and inescapable - like death and taxes. Most young children trust their parents. Why would't I?

I tested as an ESFP But I can assure you that for the most part I hated FS too. WHY? I think because I knew the message and the group I represented were unliked. I don't like going where I'm not wanted, I think extroverts may need approval even more than introverts. Introverts IMHO, are more self-contained. E's NEED attention and approval. Hard to get approval in FS.!

I suppose it's possible that some threads are an outlet for anger and serve as a helpful release. Still, I steer clearof those- maybe others do too. I, too, am not ready to trade one religion for another so I stay away from Biblical and religious threads that offer no insight into the WT$
Too soon for politics as well. I avoid those too.

Another possibility is that (I'll speak for myself) some are a little mentally lazy. Still another, is that we're not in the mood for an arguement. Heated debates upset me and I don't think either side convinces the other. Some act immature and mean. New ones are not impressed, in fact some might quit reading the useful info here because of the bad behavior. I hope not, but I wonder.

With me it's because my life has too much drama and heartache and I'm looking to lighten my mood. My hubby said "there's a reason people don't go to a therapist more than once a week. A person can stand only so much reliving the agony of our serious problems. Sometimes it feels like vomiting the past out. At a certain point you need to stop and talk about something light and fluffy." I agree.
I will add that It's about resting my mind and emotions. A good laugh is theraputic. Also, some have been on the board a long time. They no longer are searching for answers about the Borg. They have already have all the proof they need to be done with it. At this point they are here for amusement, to stay in touch with friends and to help newer ones.

Hello Everyone :-)
by new one ini've only recently joined but i've been lurking for well over a year.
i'll just start with a bit of my story so you'll have a better idea on were i'm coming from, i've read that much of most of your posts that i feel i already know you all anyway lol.. i'm 32 years old now and for most of my life i've had jw's around me at times, my mom used to study on and off with them all through my child hood alough she never took the plunge i'm not sure why because even to this day she say's she holds the same beliefs but somethings held her back so there's doubt somewhere!.
anyway, having had the magazines around me for most my life i'd read them from time to time, but, when i reached about 17 years old i discovered nightclubs, alcohol and, well you know the rest ;-).. fast forward to my early 20's and i'd had a failed attempt at setting up my own business, my parents had split up after 25 years together and long story short i had a nervous breakdown.

Brothers and sisters, we are living in truely momentous times. Never forget where you first heard the accurate knowledge of the fruit of the vine. Others have said, "Lord, Lord, didn't we raise a glass in your name? Didn't we slurr our words in your name? and yet He will say, "Get away from me you drinkers of box wine, I never could stand the cheep stuff."
Are you trying to serve 2 masters? Are you immitation drinkers? While outwardly appearing to be hammered, you secretely pour your drink in the base of a potted plant all the while the plant is more potted than you? Friends, this is no time to be slowing down. NOW, is the time to give more than the usual attention to these matters. NOW, while there is yet time for it, widen out in your love of liquer. Are you satisfied with meer "token drinking" when perhaps you could have a fuller share?
