Way to make parents feel like loosers if their kids delay baptism. Way to make kids "accountable" and shunnable. (is that a word?) Control, control, control. I wouldn't be surprised if a brother whose kids are not baptised by their teens would not be considered for appointment to MS or Elder.

RNWT: Page 1767: About 1914
by StephaneLaliberte inin appendix b1, there is a timeline for the message of the bible.
on the second page of that appendix, there is a small section entitled "about 1914", what is this?
don't you find it odd that they use the word "about"?

I was taught (early 60's) that WWI was a DISTRACTON that Satan used AHEAD OF TIME to keep people from noticing the ending of the Gentile Times and the beginning of Jesus Christs Rule/ beginning of the "time of the end". That Christ's first act as King was to oust Satan from the heavens. Eventually, as the society kept dumbing things down they let WWI be associated with proof that the "Last Days" had started.

Hamsterbait, EXACTLY! The obvious purpose of changing contensions to dissensions is to have a Biblical excuse to tighten control.

A small observation from the AGM...
by sir82 in...but it struck me as significant anyway.. i attended at a jw assembly hall, and was sitting behind a pretty typical jw family.
2 kids about ages 8 & 5, frazzled hen-pecked husband, and....the mom.
the lady of the house.

Sir 82, your observation is typical of so many sisters I know. At one time I (shudders) think I may have been kinda like that.

BiIG AWAKE CHANGE IN THE 90's and past changes.
by ADJUSTMENTS in.

Welcome Adjustments, I like your user name. Yes, there certainly was a big change in the wording on the inside cover of Awake. Obviously, the WTS had to stop referring to the ones born in or old enough to reason in 1914 as they were quickly dieing off. Now that nearly 100 years have passed It will be interesting to see how they deal with it. I'll be looking forward to your story.

breakup guilt
by fresh prince of ohio ini recently broke up with my girlfriend of four years.. she is 40 years old, with health problems, financial problems, little family/friend support, and facing an uncertain future.
i gave her some money.. the guilt i am experiencing right now is absolutely anguishing.

Dear FPOO, I'm sorry you are so full of angst. There was a time when I was totally dependant on my 1st husband of 30 yrs. I was completely unprepared to be on my own. I thought of going back to him because he said he did not want to divorce. We were co-dependent for sure. I told Him that I would not make a decision unless we went to counciling. We went. I was helped to understand that in our case, there was nothing to salvage. Guess what! I survived! Got stronger, remarried, survived horrific events AND left the only belief system I , my parents, and grandparents had ever known. (JW's) It feels GREAT to find out I was so much stronger than I ever thought possible! Please try couples counciling, sort things out, and if you decide to move on, know that she may thank you later! I am so greatful I was dumped 'cause i found someone better!

What am I going to wear to the AGM?
by sherrie11 into the women out there that have been honoured with an invitation this is the question they ask themself.. .
i am going to admit one of the reasons i enjoyed the meetings was getting to dress up.
how many women out there found the meetings an excuse to dress up.

Yes, I'm guilty of being thrilled for ANY excuse to dress up that the cult could provide. The problem is that when I was young I dressed like a fashionable woman in her 40's or 50's. Brainwashed to think Young=bad old=good. Stupid
