20What is your weirdest field service experience ?
by cookiemaster inmine just popped in my head and i just had to share it.
a few years ago i went with a special pioneer(and elder) at one of his studies who was a cow herder in the mountains.
obviously, even though we were going to the middle of nowhere, where no one lived, we just had to go all dressed up in nice suits and all.

Just caught my 7 yr old watching 'Calebs Aeroplane' think I overreacted
by not bitter inat least i think thats what its called.
she was watching it at my parents house just now.
i asked what she was watching on my mums tablet and mum said whilst laughing 'oh sorry but she wants to watch bible stories' then all i heard was something about jehovah and keeping rooms tidy.

The thing I would like to add is that when you have "the talk"(explaining what you will not tolerate) with the grandparents you do it without your child/children present. Kids have a way of blaming themselves for family discord so don't burden them with your anger. Just TCB. My best to you.

Prepare for meetings??

if i go i spend a few minutes underlinging my books/watchtower.. i have noticed that those who do the micks especially notice when your stuff is not underlined, and comments are made after the meeting, not so gentle hints, about study and preperation!
in other words i am being told off, its usually the ones who are highly critical of everything i do, sometimes their whole family seems to be straining to see if my stuff is underlined, i know this because i heard the daughter to family wisper her watchtower is not underlined!.

My sister died
by poppers injust got word that my sister died.
she had surgery for heart valve replacement about 5 weeks ago, and when they opened her up for it they found cancer.
we had an extra special relationship since i was her "birthday present" when she turned 10 in 1951. this is my second sibling to die of cancer in 14 months..

XStuckX, If you and your wife have been letting your kids do extra curricular activites chances are that your family has been the subject of hurtful gossip by the same trolls who gave your wife the dirty looks at the KH. I felt exactly like you growing up in the cult so I let my kids do some things after school. It wasn't untill years later that it got back to me the nasty things that were said behind my back. These people didn't even have the guts to tell me to my face. I'm so glad you are making a clean break from the madness!

Guns
by Brother Mike indoes anyone know why people say as jws you can't have guns.
i've asked people at the hall and they say jws aren't supposed to have guns.
i asked them why, and they all say just because we're not supposed to.

There are a lot of bros who have guns for hunting but some who have protection wepons get heat and are not considered "exemplary" so are not appointed as servants. In a local cong. few years back a beloved JW family (who I knew and loved) with identical twin sons in their late teens suffered a horrific tragidy. The boys were in their room goofing off with a family gun. One twin accidently killed the other. It was all over the news. So VERY sad. The incident has probably has caused the elders to clamp down on gun owners.
