Congregation that have sent in money!
by DwainBowman inin the past week, i have heard from a number of friends scattered all over the place.
a number of them are very upset over the congregation being required, to send in all monies over $4,000.
a number of these were kh's that were saving to buy land, and or build new kh's.

Some thoughts about the possibility of your friend suing the WTBT$ for the return of the money. #1: He will be DFed for "taking his brothers to court". Review the Menlo Park case. The most surprising aspect of that case is that the elders who were DFed for suing the society didn't "wake up" because of it. They are still very much mentally in. #2 Even if somehow he avoids being DFed he will loose the case unless he has a document stating the specific intended use for the money and it is signed by both parties. It would be a SHAME if he sued, lost, got Dfed and didn't learn TTATT! -

Simon, I can see your point. The JW's who are confused and disillusioned need answers and support on their journey out of Watchtower, This site was my lifeline and I will always be grateful for the help I received. In my case it was the humor that especially helped me to laugh at the organization and myself for believing such silliness. I think there is a difference between anger and hate and sometimes it's probably a tough call. Nobody can please ALL of the people ALL of the time. In addition, all of us make mistakes as well. (except me) I once thought I made a mistake but I was wrong.

Hi! Long time lurker finally signing up!
by LosingMyReligion inok, so the time has finally come to register an account on this site.
not that i think i have much to contribute to the discussions here, but more out of a desire to show that yet another person has learned ttatt.
i am a fader, not discussing ttatt with anyone as i know the inevitable outcome it would have.

Welcome LoosingMyReligion, The more you read here the more variety in posters you will observe. Now that I have met a number of ex JW's I realize that most of the ones who left Watchtower were true believers who now realize their whole life has been dedicated to a lie. Some are dealing with spouses or children still-in who shun them or worse. This tends to be crazy making. You bay be surprised how much dignity and wisdom can be found here as well. -

Watchtower Study today Jan 4 2015 , Fallacious Reasoning (issue Nov 15 2014)
by BluesBrother inthe subject of the study was jesus resurrection .
my post is not about the subject and whether or not that can be believed in.
millions of christians do and it is not my place to debunk religious faith.

Thanks Billy! I was starting to waffle in my belief in Santa 'cause he's been rather stingy with me but after reviewing your list and checking it twice my faith has been restored!!! -

Poster country flags and privacy
by Simon inthe new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

A flag is fine by me. If someone feels they could be identified by their flag couldn't there be a way to block it? Also, if someone said they identified me here I would simply say they are mistaken. My word against theirs. -

They came, they saw, they left...
by NVR2L8 induring the holiday period one if my wife's brothers had planned a vacation in our area.
they drove about 6 hours to a condo they leased for a week to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their married son and daughter.
they called my wife to let her know they were coming to visit us since they were 2 hours away.

NVR, Trust me, this is the kind of thing that can help to wake your wife up. Hubby and my families are all JWs. He woke up before I did and skillfully used situations like yours to help me think. He shook his head and quietly observed," Wow, all those years of Bible study and meetings one would think it would have a better effect on a person." Boy, that really hit home. -

Site issues: Dec 30 Update
by Simon infirst of all, some apologies - i had planned to spend the last couple of days getting everyone signed in to the new site and sorting account issues out but i wasn't getting over the flu as i thought, i got worse.
i've probably had 4 hours sleep in the last few days.
anything that requires too much thinking isn't going to happen right now.

We live where the summer is at least 4 1/2 months long and temperatures are extremely hot 100-115 degrees. Of course it's even much hotter if your car is parked in the sun! Batterys just can't survive those extreme temps. We have to replace ours about once a year. -

Sorry you are so sick, Simon. Hubby and I had a horrible case of flu this year as well. We will opt for shots next season for sure! Cofty is right, the site can wait-there is only ONE Simon and your health comes first. We will limp along just fine. -

NVR, Maybe it was a good thing in disguise. Possibly you can compare the time and effort your wife's family took to visit Beth-Hell vs with her and simply ask if it hurt her feelings. It might start her thinking.......
