I saved it all of these years.

Julia,
You are clearly a talented artist. Would it be possible for you to teach art either at a school or in the private sector? Have you exhibited your art anywhere but FB? Boutiques and restaurants sometimes are willing to display local artist's work. Have you networked with other local artists?
I sincerely wish you the best with your recovery.

"We ourselves made the decision to join that organization and we should take responsibility for the decision we made".
Clearly, you are not taking into account the vast majority of JWs like myself who were born to parents who gave us no real choice not to join. If I wanted to receive the love of a family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. it was mandatory that I I join. What responsibility does a 12 year old take?

No Natural Affection
by Sail Away indo you remember how the wt society likes to quote the scriptures that say "the love of the greater number will cool off" in "the last days" and men will have "no natural affection"?
they applied this to "worldly people".
even before my exit i, used to think that scripture applied to members of the "christian congregation" too.. i haven't written to my jw mil in about a year and a half.

Sail Away, I can relate. We feel a combination of anger and pity for them. Another reason why your in-laws can't connect with the idea of their great grandchild is that he clearly represents the FOURTH generation in their family born AFTER 1914. Too hard for them to process the fact that they have hitched their star to a failed prophecy. -

When I was a little kid in the '50s there was a choir that sang between sessions at the DCs. I really enjoyed seeing and hearing their performances and looked forward to the day I would be old enough to join.
Well, just my luck the choir thing was scrapped. Next on the chopping block was the orchestra then eventually the piano players. The Watchtower has changed its mind on live music almost as much as it has on doctrines.

My parents were SPs during WWll and were given a whopping $25 a month each and sent into the deep South where JWs were being tarred and feathered. You know, the good 'ole days. -

Book study next week... was the Mosaic Law perfect?
by StarTrekAngel inbefore i get the "no it was not, because god does not exist and this is a writing of man", i am directing this discussion to those that either still believe, or need as many tools as possible to talk to a family member still in.. the purpose of my posting is to discuss what i believe to be a mistake on this book or, in the other hand, be corrected if i am not getting the entire picture.. in the book, chapter 19 "god's wisdon in a sacred secret", paragraph 10, it reads.... 10 second, the law thoroughly demonstrated mankinds need for a ransom.
a perfect law, it exposed the inability of sinful humans to adhere to it fully.
compare this with hebrews 7:11-12. jesus a priest like melchizedek11now if perfection was through the levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of aaron?

When I was still a believer my answer would have been the Law was perfect in itself but could not provide everlasting life to its followers. Jesus ransom "bought out" that covenant/contract with his perfect life and in addition added the bonus of eternal life.
