  New ASSembly hall and property cost

  found out that the land by itself was bought for cash at the tune of $1,250,000.00 - land size is approx 600 feet by 1000 feet - in the desert, small town between two major cities.

  no idea what the building cost!

  my mother had this arrangement.

  what it actually accomplished was isolating her from the cong.

  as she was 89 she didn't drive at night.

  Hi Dog, I feel for your mother and totally understand your anger. My fathful mother has been mistreated as well and it makes my blood boil The only good that has come out of it is that the SOB's forced me to start waking up.

  Hubby has finally come around....had to share!

  some of you may or may not know but i came out before my husband.

  he has not been to the meetings in 4 years but still acted like a witness.

  i know it has been hard on him as he was raised a witness and i was not.

  Meangirl, Congratulations!!! Hubby and I can relate to leaving but not being "mentally out". Boy, is it a load off when you can finally kick the whole indoctrination to the curb!

  i had to have a hysterectomy and some other repairs.

  i told the doc that since i'm going under anyway, if you see something that needs fixing, do it....and he went to town!

  Dear Quandry, Still Thinking, Dagney, Troubled Mind, Loz,:

  Your kind thoughts made my day! I'm healing on all levels, Physically,emotionally, now it's time to work on Financially. Hubby is working night and day to try to keep our house. The bank is trying to kick us out on Wed. (like we don't have enough on our plate).

  BTW, our neighbors brought us a delicious dinner on Christmas then came this morn. with French toast! Needless to say, we will be persuing their friendship.

  Loz, Wow, I am terribly sorry about the rift between you and your children. I can relate to the nasty divorce and the complications the WT$ adds to it. I'm sorry your family is suffering. My ex started stalking and vandelizing our property after I remarried. The 2 teenage kids chose to live with him (he was dfed I and new hubby were in) They didn't believe their dad would do such awful things. I was hartbroken! He sent the kids far away to college,(I'm glad about that now) My son came back to me after graduating but had an accident and died.

  After our son died my ex became worse and the stalking escalated into attempts on hubby and my life. He even poisoned our dog. During this time we moved twice trying to escape, and begged the elders not to divulge our address. (the ex was dfed and we were in good standing) They ignored us probably thought I was simply a bitter ex wife. We finally moved a 3rd time, quit attending, and told no JWs where we live. It worked. The ex died under mysterious circumstances so those problems are thankfully, gone. Yet of course, I was left with PTSD.

  At this point I can almost be glad the elders treated us so poorly (there is MUCH more to that story) because their conduct was so bad in all 3 congs, we found it easier and easier to stay away. Next we found JVN and the rest is history. Like you, I plan to make the most of my new life out of the Borg.

  Thank you Factfinder, Merry Christmas to you and those you love as well. Actually there are currently only 2 ppl in my life, hubby and far away daughter. Looks like I have my work cut out for me to do good to others and hopefully make some friends in the process. Can't wait until the summer meet-up at Lake Tahoe. I hope to meet many of you there!

  This is the first year I've ever wished anyone Merry Christmas or Happy Hollidays. It felt so strange at first. Now it feels GREAT. I'm in bed recovering from surgery this year and fading...so no outside decor, no tree, no presents. Next year is going to be a whole different story. I plan to go whole hog and if anyone doesen't like it, tuff sh*t.

  the past few days i've been thinking about how life has changed since leaving the witnesses.

  except for just a few, my former friends have been completely replaced by apostates.

  who would have ever thought...i sure didn't.

  I would like to better express my gratitude for this forum. Only a few months ago hubby and I were miserable inactive JWs who were dealing with guilt and anxiety. We were physically and emotionally unable to take the beatings at the KH any longer. We were hoping either for the "end" to come or some kind of "Reform" in the Society.

  JVN changed our lives. Suddenly information was available to us we never knew existed. We lurked here a few weeks and read read read . Not only were we shown the WTS was NEVER Gods chosen instrument, but we were abe to find others with similar backgrounds and experiences. Before JVN we had NO one we could talk to. Now, not only do we enjoy the support we have been given, hopefully we will be able to say something helpful to others. WIN, WIN!!!

  So, thank-you and Happy Hollidays to Simon and the the moderators as well as all the posters.
