I was shopping, looking at a handbag, when M****** rushed up to me and gave me a hug. Startled, I looked up to see a sister who was never friendly when I attended her cong. over 13 yrs ago. We have run into each other a couple of times where we exchanged pleasantries and went our separate ways. Over the years I've moved several times and changed congs. It turns out that a few years back(after we quit attending meetings) we moved into a community where she and her hubby also live.

She implied she knows we live in her "territory" now. She tried her best to draw me into a conversation. I gave in and asked about her children. Oh brother! She went on and on how well they are doing in JW land and how her oldest is COBE of a nearby hall. After at least 15 min of this and how her hubby is off on some building project, I was chafing. She had blocked me with her shopping cart so I couldn't even ease out.

She goes on to say how she misses me at the KH. Really? "I miss you too." I lied. Next thing you know she's telling me more "advancements" from the society. I feel myself ready to blow but hubby is adament about not wanting to get dfed so I'm still trying to hold my anger in. Then she asks if I still read my Bible? That did it.

I said, "When they(elders in another cong) refused to give us our mags I was forced to read the Bible without the DISTRACTION of the literature. Turns out they did me the biggest favor of my life!" She looked shocked. I followeded with," Then I read some of the Societies really old literature on line. Now I understand why my parents were so dysfunctional! They lived their lives guided by Judge Rutherford."

She now looked a little nausious and said,"Well he was needed at the time . He was an attorney, you know." I replied, Of course I know, but do you think he was the ONLY attorney at the time? Rutherford made a power play for the job and did a lot of damage in the process."

At this point she was turning grey and I realized I had probably bought myself a call from her husband,. Good thing he'll be gone for a couple of months slaving for the slave.

Why can't I just smile and keep my mouth shut?????

Question? Do you know of any statutory rape, or Child Molestation cases handled as Consensual sex (fornication) by Jehovahs Witnesses Judicial Committees?

i was talking about this with the mrs., and we can recount at least half dozen cases in the last 20 years of adult j.w.

men having sex with teenage boys or girls.

not only were the police not informed, but also the victim was treated as a guilty party in fornication.

Yeah, I know of at least 3 cases where a Jw couple hire a teen girl from the cong to babysit. The adult father had developed a rapport and trust in the girl. These dads would offer to drive the girls home late at night and somewhere along the line they would have sex with the girls. Undoubtedly, they made sure to offer alcohol or worse. (possibly drugged)

In each of these cases the underage girl was not babtized yet. Only one of the 3 dads was disfellowshipped. None was reported or viewed as rape. The parents of the girls were furious but were afraid of sanctions. At least one of the parents left the Borg that I know of. I believe the only reason that the one JW dad was dfed is because he had cheated on his wife numerous other times before. (considered a practice)

The other dads simply said "I'm sorry" and it was handled like a slip on a bananna peel AND CONSENTUAL!!! The girls were considered "Bad association" and treated accordingly.

i'm a big science nerd and i remember when we were going over the creator book, that the big bang doesn't necessarily prove there is no god.. i said this comment during book study and the conductor's jaw dropped.

everyone was pretty uncomfortable and it didn't help that he ct me off as i was explaining the red shift and mom wasn't too happy about all that.

i had to do a lot of bible research and write some nonsense about how the big bang was not reality or some sort...ugh.. .

Rocky Girl, Your story wins the prize for the most ridiculous reproof of ALL TIME!!! You are right to be glad they did you the favor of being so unfair and unloving that they, in effect, pushed you out the door. Be double glad they did it while you are young.

i am new here, been lurking for a while but felt compeled to join as i would like to comment on more and more of the topics i come across.

by way of an introduction here is some info about me.. i am an active jw, married with a family, living in the uk.

i serve as a ms and have done for many years.

Welcome K99, You are wise to seek advice from those who have been in very much the same situation. As you have probably gathered, there is more than one "right way" to handle "the truth about the Truth".

In the 9 months since I've been mentally out (Hubby and I were already inactive due to health reasons) I have experienced numerous changes in belief, as well as changes in what I want to do about it. The admonition to take things slowly can't be overemphasized!!! What you believe today may not be the same tomorrow.

A poster here (can't remember who) said "If the beliefs/doctrines were watertight, I could accept the control." That REALLY hit home to me because I, like you, knew there are serious errors. If the religion is really spirit directed, why is that pesky spirit so frequently wrong?

Even though my JW roots date to before 1900 I blindly followed the "family religion" and had never read any publications that came before me.(the 50's) BIG MISTAKE. Had I bothered to do this I would have realized what WACKY ideas this group was founded on. I would have spared myself and my children much misery. I encourage you to research the organization from the beginning and read for yourself what they have actually printed. Best of luck!
