  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  Add me to the list whose parents let JF Rutherfraud make their medical decisions so no vax for me! I ended up with severe cases of measles, mumps, whooping cough, you name it. Thankfully, public school would not admit me without polio vaccine or I might have gotten THAT too.

  Just to mention another aspect of WTBT$ hypocrisy: In the late 1940s and early 1950s, my parents flew with Knorr and F Franz and Grant Suiter, ett all, to several European countries for international conventions. They couldn't get their passports without receiving ALL the required immunizations, some of which had questionable blood sources. Don't ask, don't tell was fine for THEM!

  Isn't It Ironic That Many People Now Wish That Many of the Things China is Making Would Actually Be Made in Mexico?

  let me think of a few advantages to having mexico do more manufacturing for us:.

  - low cost labor .

  - just drive around or jump over the wall to see family and friends.

  So true, Ruba, When I was a young bride in the early 1970's we bought a deluxe Kenmore washer and dryer set. 25 years, 2 kids, and 5 moves later they worked like they were new. They had Never even been serviced! We decided to sell them while they were still working great so I'll never know how long they lasted.

  Sears contracted with other companies to make their appliances. You have to research what company was used to make the Kenmore item you buy AND what country it was made in.

  My ExElder Best Friend Has Coronavirus

  this has been a horrible month.

  my best friend’s wife just called to tell me that my friend had to be hospitalized due to severe coronavirus complications.

  he has severe pneumonia, is put on a ventilator and is in a coma .

  Being that modern reliable toilets and automatic washers/ dryers have been around for at least 60 years, technology does not seem to me to be the issue. Using cheap and shoddy parts and labor does.

  To answer your questions: The toilets were an off-brand carried by Home Depot about 10 yrs ago. Sorry, we can't remember the brand name. Something like Ecco comes to mind though.

  Hubby and I were Real Estate investors before the '08 crash. We rehabbed and resold at least 15 properties including an 8 unit commercial building. We never had a problem with American Standard or Better yet, Kholer fixtures.

  The Mismatched washer and dryer were made in about 2013 and came from hubby's mom who almost never used them. The washer is Kenmore and Dryer Maytag. Both have "Made in Mexico" labels. (in obscure places)

  LongHairGal: I enjoy your posts. I came from a very different background from you so I really appreciate your POV. I was inculcated, mentally regulated, and conditionally loved into this cult for 60 years. I wish I would have had even one friend or relative I could have turned to when I was younger and had "issues". The FEAR of the wrath of Jehovah outweighed my common sense.

  i would like to share the following: *** w74 11/15 p. 703 questions from readers ***do lewd practices on the part of a married person toward that one’s own mate constitute a scriptural basis for the offended mate to get a divorce?there are times when lewd practices within the marriage arrangement would provide a basis for a scriptural divorce.. based on this, some jw chose to divorce.

  Another point to consider is this: Prior to the WT article in 1974, the WTBT$ stated that homosexual acts committed by someone married were a perversion but were NOT scriptural grounds for divorce. The Aid book distributed in 1972 said so in print.

  I knew a sister who divorced her husband for this reason. She and all the others like her whose mates had cheated on them with the same sex or with animals were not allowed to remarry and remain in good standing. Thankfully, this stupidity caused her to leave Watchtower before they reversed themselves.

  I hate to through cold water on the Mexico idea But.....

  We bought a brand new house that had toilets that NEVER worked properly. Made in Mexico. We inherited a washer and dryer that were almost new when we got them yet, they are the absolute WORST. They have been serviced but we were told, "That's how they were made."

  The washer sounds like a cement mixer and tortures the clothes when it spins. The dryer FRIES our clothes on the coolest setting (delicate.) Sure enough, these were also Made in Mexico. Quality control would have to change drastically before I would make a major purchase or medicine made in Mexico.
