the article screamed at me to write a response, but i know damned well that it will get me d.f"ed if i do..........pm me if you might be willing to help out with a submission.

Is the WT banning vasectomies?
by B_Deserter ini talked to a dub friend of mine who said they had a new "it's a personal choice, but jehovah will kill you if you do it" article about vasectomies.
basically, the reasoning is supposedly that since jehovah gave us our reproductive organs, tampering with them is wrong if not medically necessary.

i thought some of you might like to see some of the notes i took to keep myself amused/awake.. we had a guest speaker from the local old people's home bethel.

Ridiculous elder ideas and rules
by Juan Viejo2 inin an earlier thread, i went off topic for a moment to share excerpts from an email i received from an active sister living in the midwest usa.
she mentioned that the elders in her congregations were extremely conservative and criticized the flock for using certain colors of highlighters in their magazines.
she also reported that they were all over the sisters for wearing stylish boots or tennis shoes during the winter months.. i know that some elder groups can be very liberal, supportive and loving toward their flocks - while others are exactly opposite to the point that they become overbearing and oppressive.. what have you experienced as far as ridiculous, over-the-top rules and ideas enforced by local elders?.

Oh and if u were in a different congregation, you're not safe. The elders would call the brothers from other cong all the time about the many infractions on the part of their publishers. I had one elder call about me about something he heard that I said to another perosn who said it to another person who stated it to an elder. NO fact checking, just go punish me

This is my second post, but I have wanted to tell you all how much this site has meant to me. I was DF'd in "83 at the age of 18. I lost ALL of my friends and immediate family members (extended family lived 8-10 hours away). I was a born in, my father was an elder (he has since left and boy has he told me some stories!!!) but somehow the things they were saying never sat right with me. I could never pinpoint why. Fast forward more than 30 years later and I find this site. I look forward to talking to the JW's that come by now..Now I have information, I know why their teachings are BS. This site has helped me articulate what I have 'known' for years.
Mom and sister (her husband and two sons) are still in while, as I said before my Dad and my brother are out.
So really I want to say "Thank you" to all of those who post and research and reinforce our decision to leave this organization, you have helped more than you know!!
