  Urgent one day meeting in Britain ,do you know it was about ?

  yestarday all our elders were invited to a one day meeting urgently .i know they had their elders meeting few months ago .does anyone know what it was about .i heard from the grapevine that among other issues disgussed was a)how to deal with disfellowshipped ones and, b) how to offer councel to fellow elders .any elder attended this meeting in britain please feel free to share some info.

  The Time is More Important than Results

  on my way in to work this morning (saturday), at 6:05 am on a commercial business street in chicago, i saw two sisters and a brother bundled up in winter clothes and doing "street work.

  " it wasn't that cold, so i guess they started even earlier when they needed their scarf and gloves.

  there was absolutely nobody else walking and all the businesses were closed.

  I never realized how much it was all for show until after I had been out 20 years and I was toting my mother back and forth to the KH while she lived with me. I just about cried from tears and laughter seeing these families tote these young kids, dressed to the hilt and all carrying bookbags, little miniature versions of the ones their parents carried. I felt so sorry for those little kids.

  i have been lurking here for about a month or two.

  it is really awesome to read so many similar experiences.. for example, when i was still 'in' i wondered if i was the only one in the hall that really hated the meetings.

  I have been out 27 years and I am going to tell you exactly what I told both my sons, who had the advantage of not being raised a JW:

  The world is your oyster, and with education, you have an opener in every pocket. Follow your passions, whatever they be; the money will follow.

  My eldest is a chemical engineer and my youngest is in med school.

  so my husband (who was never a jw) saw a christian bumper sticker today and asked me if the witnesses have any.

  i said no (not that i know of anyway) so here are a few he came up with.. 'honk if you're a zombie'.

  'my other car is noah's ark'.

  Moved to Florida and an elder from my old Michigan hall shows up at the door.

  i moved to florida from north michigan a year ago.

  i have not been to a kh in over 15 years, that said they know who i am at my old hall.

  i got a knock at the door and it was an elder from my old hall.

  If upon their first visit you realized they were still JWs, break off the relationship ASAP. They WILL report anything and everything to your old KH. They are spys and you can take that to the bank.

  A question for those that have been around this board for a long time

  my wife and i stopped going to meetings in 1988 and da'd in 1989. for a few years we both actively participated in the xjw world, she quit doing that a long time ago, and has pretty much completely moved on.

  the other night i told her about my planned blog (which will probably launch this weekend) it will mostly be about my writing, a lot of which is mostly about jw related issues.

  she asked why i am still so drawn to this subject.

  Here is my comparison. Though not as physically deadly as the Holocost, the trama is exactly the same. The Jewish population volentarility gave up their guns and any means to defend themselves, trusting the Nazis could never, ever think of extermination. Even when most heard of what was really going on the vast majority would not believe it..... it was beyond comprehension. The same is true with the Printing Company. They love bomb you, or you grow up in the mindset dependent on those around you. How can anyone comprehend a parent or child turning on them? Is it not the same? It is the total disbelief that a human being can actually act like that. It has been since 1986 when I left in the middle of the witch hunts of that time; the utter emotional devastation is not meant to go away. The pain it cost us was as hard of a reality check as the Holocost. But our pain taught us that the Printing Company is EVIL. Sometimes I STILL, after all these years, cannot get my arms around it, that anyone could be that evil. I am afraid, truly afraid, if I do not keep remembering/recalling what happened, it will happen again. I have come to accept that my ability to trust anyone will never develop. I didn't lose it, I never developed the ability in the first place as a born in.

  So yes I "cling" to those like those here on this board to confirm over and over again what I went though. I never want to forget, and as long as there is breath in me, I will work to keep remembering. I have to... lest it happens again. This is the cross I carry.

  we've missed some meetings due to work and thinking it's bs and also one night my husband got drunk n fessed up n had a shepherding call n now the e is coming to see 'how we're doing'.
