I did have it rough as well. Childhood, yeah, what the hell is that? But now as an adult, I do realize it could have been much worse. When I find myself thinking about what I missed out on, the adventures I could of had, I stop and think that there is always someone who had it just a bit worse than I did. Then I am thankful that my childhood wasn't any worse. I'm here now, I can do some things to right the wrongs...and make myself happy along the way.

Raised a JW... did you have a childhood?
by ignorance is strength inpersonally i was quite serious at a young age.. there was no "boys will be boys" growing up.
personally i feel kind of cheated out of a childhood by an organization that forced you to think that "everything around you was going to be gone soon so you better grow up, start publishing, and giving talks.
" did any of you experience a less than stellar childhood, especially because of the lack of holidays and socially-isolating religion gowing up?

When I point out that;
Your argument would mean a man could also force a woman to have an abortion to avoid child maintenance, and that a woman could demand her husband have sperm extracted from him if he refused to have children with her.
.. you admit it is true, and then carry on saying a man has a right to his sperm, having admitted that if your, er, 'logic' applied both ways a woman would have the rights I described and a man could force abortion on a woman.
Doesn't this make it clear to you that your desire to enforce actions upon a woman against a woman's will is unworkable? If you have a problem with this, don't have sex, it is very simple. You say men should fight for their rights; you have the right not to have sex, you do not have a right to violate a woman's rights because you regret having sex.
I'm sorry, I really find your attitude offensive and misogynistic; you're just doing what generations of men have done and are treating women like chattel. If you grace them with your holy sperm they have to ask politely what to do with it... what utter rubbish. You cannot 'take back' an orgasm. Live with this fact; you too Obiwan.
First of all abaddon, don't include me in someone else's reply. If you don't have the courtesy of replying directly to me, then don't!
Second in regards to my post, you're missing the whole point. This whole thread is about abortion. Did I say anything about "mens" or "womens" rights? This is about one thing, the right for the child to live. People is this day and age, have lost perspective on responsibility. If two people, have sex, and a pregnancy occurs...why does the child have to pay?
You have been asking others here for proof with there idea of abortion. Where is yours with regard to abortion being right? You are actually arrogant enough to think there is a right or wrong answer to this? That to me is just plain assumption on your part. All of this come's down to the individuals involved, not some arbitrary rule book that people make up.
Another flaw, you say that a woman should be able to keep a child even if a man decides he would rather her have an abortion. Ok, fine. Does this also mean that since the woman is imposing here will on the situation and decides to have the child, that the man also has a right not to support this child since he does not want it?
Niether party will be "right" in this situation. You have a man on one hand who has rights, and you have a woman on another hand that has rights. You never once said anything about the child's right's. You've said men have the right not to have sex, hello, what about the woman? If a woman were to go against the man wanting the child, then "she" would be violating his rights. This whole thing works two ways. This is where that "sticky" point comes to play, if you really read what I said. I did say I would have something to say about it. I did not say there were any absolutes to this.
As I said, this is about the responsibility the two people have. Niether party can "force" thier will on another. And you say men have been doing this for generations. Guess what, women have as well. So I say again, this will never be solved, each party has thier own idea of rights, with no thought or consequence to the child. As I stated and pointed out the child should not have to pay for peoples indiscretions. Live with that fact.

What gives him the right as a man, to say anything about what a woman does with her body? I personally don't agree with abortion, but I do support the right of the woman to make her own decision on what she does, with her own body. If you don't like that, then move to China, because your acting like a commie dictator.
So, Trauma, you would have no problem with it, even if it was your child she was aborting? This, to me, is the only sticky point in the argument that men do not have a say in what a woman does to her body.
If a woman that I had been with is pregnant, you better believe I will have something to say about it. When it comes to sex, I believe, if your gonna play, you better be able to pay....and not with the childs life.

by freeman inwell this is about as real as it gets.
in about an hour my son will be appearing before a judicial committee for the second time in as many weeks.
unfortunately i just happen to be about 3000 miles away right now (business trip) so i cant be there for support and i cant get the ancillary information that i would normally get just by being present.

What ashames me is that I used to be one of those bastards that would be on the JC sitting in judgement - my heart goes out to him stiiajwexelder, you did what you were told to do. Don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes in life. I'm guilty of shunning as are most here. The only thing I can do, is apologize to that person if the opportunity presents itself. We are all different people now. Freeman, I feel for your son. I'm a strong individual, it nearly broke me when I was df'd. Now I'm even stronger, sometimes that's not a good thing. The one thing that saved me, a family I didn't even know, showed me some love and helped. You can do the same, he'll need it. Good luck.

My two week consulting trip to Bethel (the beginning of the end) Part 4
by seven006 inthe next day was going to be tough.
i had to do kind of a portfolio check session with the illustrators and work on some photo retouching for an up coming italian awake magazine and work with someone from the graphics department on the miniaturization issue.
as i walked around a little bit i noticed a large hell scanner sitting in a room with a plastic tarp over it.

I began to be honest with myself and think for myself. I knew being disfellowshipped for talking would kill my mom and I also knew it would end my unhappy marriage. I thought about my kids and how what I knew would eventually effect them. I thought about my mom again and how I finally fulfilled her dream of having me work in the art department at Bethel. I also thought about whether I should act on what I saw or just keep my mouth shut. I thought so much all I wanted to do was stop thinking.
I think this is the toughest part when a person tries to break free from the org. You know what you can handle, it's the other people in your life that you have to worry about. The wt pray's on this, it's like being in a marriage, and your only staying in it for the kid's, not for the love. You then start to question yourself. Do I want to stay just to keep the kid's, and the wife, and the mother happy? Or, do I give my children a chance at a real life.
I for one feel for you. I think, if I were in that situation, I would have left for the kids. I can sympathize with your issue with your mother. To this day, I'm glad my mother was deceased when I was df'd. It would have broke her heart.
