I, too, have long felt the Bible was written as a rule book for 1st century Christians hoping to get into heaven. For us, it's more of a guide book....not a rule book. Also, simply look at the names of the books within the Greek scriptures....I have searched repeatedly and never yet found any translation with a book addressed to "Christians in the 19th and 20th century". When read with this perspective, it starts to make sense and prophecies (for the most) are much easier to understand and accept.

All things have been fulfilled
by themaccauk11 inits plain as day what jesus said was to those people standing in fornt of him and it was for one generation only .the prophecies were not about the end of the world but the end of the old jewish system of things.
why do people today since the 1700s put themselves in the shoes of the ones jesus was talking to.
i quote "trtuly i tell you, some of you standing here will not die until you see the son of man coming in his kingdom".

Your very 1st word lends itself to a lack of credibility: "APPARENTLY". One of the WT's favorite words to claim "PROOF". No, really, how do you know who bought the joint?

Without proof of purchaser identified, this is a pointless article. I may believe it, but try that argunebt with a dyed-in-the-wool JW. Where's the beef?....the transaction, the naming of the name of the purchaser?

Dressed for Failure--drab colors in dress code
by WTWizard ini noticed that, especially for men, that they are required to dress in drab colors for boasting sessions and in field circus.
men are supposed to wear dirty colored suits--dark gray, muddy brown, black, and off-shades of maroon, forest green, and navy/midnight blue seem to be most common.
they get hounded if they wear something in a "loud" color--meaning anything that is near one of the major points in the rainbow and near saturation (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or violet is most likely to result in a major hounding).

How's this: I once worre my leather sport / suit coat to an elder's meeting after an assembly session and the jerk conducting the meeting (Louis Razor) told the group that all jackets need to match the slacks...no different colors or fabrics. So I figured I needed to go out and buy some leather slacks to match. What a bunch of idiots. The thought of wearing anything but shorts, pullovers, and flip-flops now makes me feel nausea.Good riddance to bad clothes.

A letter from my Mom
by ateograciasadios infriends,.
i have seen several posts like the following, and never thought i would have to write one myself, but here we go: my dear mom is forcing me to make a move... one that i have been really avoiding as much as possible.
she wrote me an email today, and here i am giving you an idea of its contents.

As stated above by 'whathappened': be true to yourself. If you are not that, you will never be anything but unture to everyone else. If mom and others cannot accept that, it is their problem, not yours. Your love for your mom is shown thru your actions. Perhaps remind her that actions speak louder than words. All the best to you.

Shared some TTATT with my wife and now she wants us to have a weekly personal bible study
by suavojr inhere is the situation.... a young 19 year old in our congo had a fallout with his parents because of all the restrictions and jw dogma and moved out of the house last wednesday.. to make the story short, the parents went running to the elders and what was the comfort?.
coe said: i saw that coming!
your son never reached out to get baptized.. then the other elder said: don't worry, you still have one left that will be saved.

wow....what an opportunity. Try not to overwhelm your wife. I wish mine would be so open. Anyway, take a look at Mt 28:19 regarding Jesus instructions on baptism; "in the name of the Father, the Son, and the holy spirit (ghost)". Ask her if she has ever heard those words at a meeting, let alone a baprism talk. She might object that the questions asked baptismal candidates reflect that thought when they are asked "do you acknowledge that you are now recognized as one of J.W.'s?"......but a gentle reminder of the warnings in the Bible not to add to--or take away from---it's words or instructions might crack the door open for more critical thinking.
Best of luck. Please keep us posted.

yes, so I hear Guy passed away. I knew him when he lived on Oahu for quite a few years back in the late '60s early '70s. Not a whole lot to say about him. He was a carpenter when I knew him. Was married to a caucasion woman if I remember correctly, probably the Eva Mitchell mentioned above. He gave a Memorial talk on Maui a couple of years ago....I did not hear it but reports I got were that it was a very poor presentation. Why don't these guys know when to call it quits? Makes me wonder if he died knowing all the facts about what the truth really is about 'the truth'.....no matter now. Sympathies and condolences to his family.
