I think Change Name might be. There was a recent post he/she started a thread that was a copy/paste of a refutation of apostates. It was spanked down and left to die to disinterest. That's why I won't repost it, but it's suspect to say the least.

This was a great subject! Makes me a little hungry! I would survey that the danishes probably win the most votes overall, so far! I'm afraid I never saw or heard the burritos where I attended (Minnesota). No hot food in my time, either, but it hadn't been too many years previous and I heard a lot about it. I also remember the tickets starting out as square and yellow or blue. Later, they became rectangular and I believe had a dusky WT logo on the top! I also remember when the food service went away, many people went off campus to nearby restaurants for lunch. Where I went to the district conventions, everything was connected by skyway in that town and there was a mall food court only a few minutes walk in the skyway. The place was always gangbusters! Then, the society made the order that they didn't want people to leave for lunch. The food court restaurant managers were nearly weeping (as a tumbleweed blew by) to the few of us that still snuck over for lunch! "Where are your friends?" one poor guy who I think was the owner asked us! He had hired extra help and everything counting on the Watchtower lunch rush that evaporated with no warning. Poor bastard! So I'm young enough to not remember having hot prepared meals at assemblies, but heard all about it from my parents and the like. But what I do remember were all of the cold sandwiches and institutional snacks and soda. Who else does? Remember the food tickets we started to use? I always remember the bagels with cream cheese fondly in the morning and the cheese danishes. Turkey sandwich or a "hoagie" for lunch with a vanilla pudding and a Shasta soda? Remember all of these goodies?
I was even lucky enough to make turkey sandwiches a couple of times and got involved with "expediting" food stuffs at a couple assemblies. One of my earliest memories of it all was having an old popcorn machine that the circuit had gotten ahold of somehow. It was a tall, red one that was like one you'd see with a street vendor or at an amusement park. It was old and always breaking down but somehow my family had the "privilege" of maning that old machine. It became a family tradition for a time and my parents even named the old popcorn machine "Jasper"! I remember being 5 or 6 and wearing a little paper hat and serving up the bags of popcorn for 3 food tickets each!
Anyway, just a funny memory and wondering what other quirky Watchtower food service stories you all might have!

Anti-JW Cult: Why did you enslave yourself to new doctrines without fully investigating their validity first?
by Change Name ini saw this on yahoo answers and wondered about your reaction to it.. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=asztevcfhe4rumq8w.94glxq1kix;_ylv=3?qid=20130226115907aalqjsp.
here are some of your deceptive doctrines:.

I think this might be a plant either from an apologist or a straight-up, active JW! Either way, the reaction you were hoping for with the tears and anger and floundering fearfulness is simply not here. Nothing but a yawn!
When you don't feel insecure in your beliefs, things like this don't really register as you know how outlandish and easily disprovable they are. As far as how secure you are in your beliefs Change Name? Well.......?!?!?!?!?!?

Hello and welcome Subytrek!
I certainly am glad you made it here and are crafting a plan to de-tentacle yourself from the Watchtower. Since we have left, we have NEVER missed the organization! (Hence the name No Regrets! I have other regrets and of course have made many mistakes but leaving the Watchtower has never been second-guessed!)
Consider yourself SO fortunate to have your parents that have faded (or gone on the minimum-maintenance plan as I call it) but be careful how honest you are about your doubts! Sometimes, it's best to keep the specifics to yourself for your benefit and others. Either way, I wish you all the best and hope everything goes well for you and yours!

by Fed-up ini know it's been commented on before here.
if you haven't seen it (i'm sure it's on netflix) please take a look.
it's the other side of the coin, presented in a funny way that really makes you think about religion and worship.

Gopher- I really loved that reference to Haig as well! It was so captivating to see how different the American versus Soviet POV digested all of those developments!
