My wife is native North American and she and her family can tell you things that will make you shudder, so I know how big a deal this is. Here the aboriginals are getting far more organized and ever powerful by the day little by little. So I hope this day is all you want it to be. It is after all at least a start. Now if the USA would ahhh nevermind.

Sorry
by sass_my_frass intomorrow is such a huge day for australia; our brand-new pm will open his governments' first parliamentary session with the long-awaited apology to aboriginal australians for the time in our recent history when it was policy to remove aboriginal children from their parents.
in some places it was out of fear of abuse, in others it was just considered the best way to integrate part-aboriginal children into white society.
families were broken up, most for nobody's good.

I have literally lived all over the USA. I was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area of VA. There are a lot of small towns on the outskirts of the metro area that are nice. from there I went to Denver, but you already know about Colorado. Then I ended up in DC/NOVA area for damn near 11 years. I L-O-V-E-D that area but as pricing goes, no way. However there were a few towns not to far from there that WERE reasonable. Then on to Buffalo. Real Estate there is some of the best pricing in the country. There are also plenty of small towns that abound The only draw back there is you have to be a winter person. Off we go to Kansas City. Very reasonable rates there in an area that is exploding with population. There are ,though TONS of small towns there that may interest you. I despised KC when I was there, however in hindsight, it really was not that bad. There you have to like wild weather that changes on a dime. Fredricksburg,Va-Richmond,Va area is a nice corridor. Just o.k pricing though. Memphis, Tenn. is OK. Plenty of towns there and pricing is about average. I now live in a smaller town in Canada for literally just a few more weeks. I kinda sorta despise it here where I am. However we are moving soon and it will get better. Then I will really love it in 2009 when we move to Toronto. I miss the big city.

Remember when assemblies were fun?
by Aphrodite ini just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.

When I was really young they were so-so on the fun metre. Then that period of awkwardness from like 12-18 when I was a super uber pioneering witness/do gooder/ kiss ass that thought I was better than all the 'cool' wordly acting people. It did not help I had SEVERE acne. So all those my age were having fun and hanging out and I was this outcast loser that had to hang out around my parents friends. Then I would zoom home and cry my eyes out because I knew I would not ever find that 'sister' that all the other young lads seemed to find at the meat market, err assembly. Ahh yes fun times. ;-)

ok men of JWD help a girl out.
by LouBelle inright - so i've met this guy through a friend - he's a little older than me (38, recently divorced, though separated for 2.5 years and has a little 4 year old daughter) he is quite a nice guy, we've been going out, having dinners and just getting to know each other - right now i'm quite happy being friends.. the thing is this guy uses so much sexual inuendo from fruit to head, to pips, you name it........ i mean i don't mind at all and have a good laugh, but what i'm trying to understand is what is he ""asking"" ""sussing out"" of me - if anything?.
thing is i'm good with straight up and ask if you want to move into a sexual relationship.
don't beat around the bush, or play games (well some games are fun when you're in a sexual relationship) so guys can be hard to read....... or perhaps i'm reading too much into it - i'm just not used to dealing with older men (i date guys around my age or younger).

On the way out said it right. He is throwing the line out to see if you will bite. If you do not have any issue with it, then bite it and then see where it gos. Also just like OTWA (sory im lazy this morning) said he is probably just as, if not more so, nervous and it is his attempt at humour to lighten things up whilst also prodding (no pun intended) for your reaction.

Blah! yet another holiday dreamt up by the corporate swine that people buy into. With the sole exception of christmas(and the ONLY reason I even half ass agree with that one is because I have kids now)I actually do not miss the holiday rules that the witnesses came up with. (sorry. my grumpy old man rant is over with. ) To those who do celebrate this. I hope all is well with you and yours on this fine day

The kingdom halls where are they headed?
by moomanchu inwhat is happening to the kingdom halls?
where you live, are they declining or prospering?
you may hear claims of revival, and reports of swelling congregations occasionally come from such places as africa, eastern europe, and the united states.

I guess t is good news. I just know in the south, I worked on damn near 200 halls from Texas to Florida and up to Maryland. I even turned down invitations and this was 12-13 years ago. That is a H-U-G-E waste of time and money. However it makes me wonder how many halls/congos there actually are and how the closing numbers relate to the other ones that are springing up elsewhere.

Did you have any self righteous holier than though in your congro??
by karter inwe moved to a new congro when we got married there was a pioneer couple who looked down on anyone who wasn't as good as them.. my wife was pioneering i was working my butt off trying to save some money to buy a house (we did) these 2 looked down on anyone who brought anything nice ,we found out they were running down to the welfare for a free handout at the expense of hard working people like me just to look good.. take away the label pioneer they would probably support themselves.. another solo mum living on welfare used to rave on how she pioneered lets face it having the state pay you to bring up one child she had plenty of time on her hands.. i was working on council houses and helped her get one even helped her move into it ,soon after she married the father of her child (he became a jw) after the help my wife & i had given her we didnt get an invite to the wedding they only invited elders , ms , regular pioneers one of my mates who was a pioneer said '' don't know why they invited me don't even know them''.
.
fast forward after much , much ass licking (you had to see it to believe it ) he became an elder only to be removed a few months later.

I used to be that guy. I was working full time and then pioneering 3-5 months a year. In addition to that I did almost all the upkeep on the hall and volunteered to do talks at the majority of meetings when others would not show up. I was also a huge loner and a loser. But I was the MAN. I was super uber ass kissing 'witness' man, and screw everyone that was not even close to my level of commitment. I look back now and realize what a d-uche bag I was.
