  Marley Cole, a Watchtower Stooge?

  thanks to wasasister, i just received a copy of jehovah's witnesses, the new world society, by marley cole, vantage press, ny, 1955 printing date.

  as some of you know, cole wrote this book under the pretence that he was only interested in writing about the jws, and didn't identify himself as a jw.

  note what the jacket cover says about him:.

  Don't worry Java-- I may be new to posting, but I am not new to hearing b.s. Remember- you can't b.s. the great b.s'r. I do it for a living!

  The last time I have posted here was when h20 was in existance. So I know that Fred's on a mission from the WBTS. I can picture Fred Hall-- A skinny, pasty white geek with those big black bold glasses...Pants that would not get wet in Noah's flood, because they are so high..and then..he sees it.. a post that is "slandering" the governing body... Hurridly he pounds on the keyboard trying to get his printer to print off the post. Sweating, he wipes the sweat from his brow, knowing that he has to bring this before the "board". He yanks the paper from the printer, causing the last line to run from the fresh ink. Then crinkling it nervously, runs until out of breath to the "board room". There, an old stoic figure looks at the bundle of nerves that busted in the room. The one that he fondly calls, "pee-on". Fred quickly bows before the man holding the paper above his head, and says in a crackling voice-- "Here my master! The latest news off the Discussion Board. How DARE these heathens speaketh of you in this way, OH GREAT AND MIGHTY ONE!!"

  Opps-- sorry. Got caught up in the discription of the Great TATTLETALER.. LOL

  Don't be a horse ass guys. Marley Cole has something that you guys don't have. And that is a heavenly hope.

  I never knew that those just interested in JW's would have that 'heavenly hope'. I wonder if you will mention that to the WBTS writing committee next time they are tapping their pens and thinking of some "NEW LIGHT"?
  Or have they changed that since I left?

  by popular demand, i am yielding to pressure, to tell a story about our very own veniceit.. in march, venice and her parents were visiting us here in washington state, and we all had dinner at our daughter's home one evening.

  (my daughter posts here as princess) princess's son, 4 years old, was quite taken with venice and was showing her around the house.

  he was going up the stairs ahead of her, and turned around, face first at her rather, ummm, er, ample?

  I think my whole issue with the JW's is summed up in the following opininon:
  The JW's hold other religious organizations to their own set of standards. Yet, the witnesses can't live up to their "standards" either.
  For example, they claim that when the Catholic priests, (their favorite target), say "it's a mystery of God", it just shows their lack of knowledge and spirit direction from God. Yet, when they can't answer a question, or know something is not right scriptually, they say, "wait on Jehovah".

  This is hypocracy to it's finest.

  Request for Opinions

  i requested that my sons (both jws) come to my home for a family meeting today.

  had nothing to do with religion.

  both of them know i don't go to meetings and that i have intellectual disagreement with wtbs.. son #2 said that before we begin the meeting, he would like to offer up prayer.

  Good for you! Just imagine if a prayer was said -- combination of alcohol and holy-spirit. The consequences could have been disasterous for all humanity! The world could have split in two! Tomorrow's headlines could have read, "Drinking and Dogma, How it Killed Mankind!"

  For God's sake, whatever you decide to do.. do not put it in writing. (this includes email!) It's amazing to see the "love" exuded by the elder, but when he get's together with his commrads, the individual thought process disappears as the mob-mentality takes over. Your questions will be like blood in the water. The sharks are beginning to circle!

  It's amazing. Out of one mouth they say that those convicted or those members who've had church sactions placed on them for child molestation are never allowed to hold any privledges of responsibilites in the congregation. Liars!!

  The elders may have written to the branch office and given full details about a former child abuser who is currently serving as an elder or ministerial servant. In such a case, if the branch office has decided that he can be appointed or continue serving in a position of trust because the sin occurred many years ago and because he has lived an exemplary life since then, his name should not appear on the List, nor is it necessary to pass on information about the brother’s past sin if he moves to another congregation unless contrary instructions have been given by the branch. If therefore, such an appointed man moves to another congregation a letter confirming the move should be sent, addressed to the Society’s Legal Department.

  Standing for flag/anthem prohibition; new light...

  in recent years we have seen wtbts "new light" that has eliminated the prohibitions on alternative service, voting, and (perhaps) carrying certain types of identity cards.. given that the practices of standing for the national flag or standing during the playing of the national anthem have been condemned in print in the same paragraphs as the above mentioned new light, isn't it about time that standing for the flag/anthem will become a conscience matter?.

  i would hope so, because not standing for these occasions is more than a little embarrassing for younger people still in school.

  standing is merely a sign of respect and honor, and this is clearly allowed by scripture.

  That's really weird that there are different responses...My parents instructed me to STAND for the salute to show respect...I wasn't allowed to sit. I attended school in the 80's early 90's. They said that it was in the school brochure ... the blue booklet before the young people ask book. The one that was to be given to all the teachers
