LOOKING FOR THE TRUTH - I AM NEW HERE

this is my first posting.

i was a witness from the age of 2-18. i was baptized in 1990 as a jehovah's witness.

Dear Erik,

"What is truth?". This was the inevitable question asked to Jesus Christ himself by Pontius Pilot in John 18:38.

The truth of God is to set us free. Unfortunately you are experiencing the enslavement of fear and uncertainty. I empathize with you. I was raised in the "truth" and was baptized at 12. I then disassociated myself around age 21. I have been out of the "truth" for 6 years. It has been a difficult road. When all that you have know to be true, is now full of deception, it is a difficult pill to swallow. My brother right now is about where you are at, and I feel for you.

Not all that are "apostates" lie. There are many who tell of their personal experiences which may at first seem extreme. And remember, the congregation is made up of human men and women, living in different areas, with different cultural influences. Some bodies of elders may seem more liberal then others. This is also difficult to comprehend because the Society constantly preaches the ideals of "unity". For myself, being a part of three different congregations, I can see those differences.

For myself, and I can probably speak to many others, I don't hate the individual witnesses. Many are very sincere and have no intention of lying or attempting to purposely decieve people. Infact, I feel that there are many intelligent people in the WBTS. I know for myself, I wouldn't consider myself stupid. However, I was ignorant. Refusing to read or look into other "religious" materials. I felt this was for my own protection. Then like you, things had started to personally affect me in my life. It caused me to question why I believed in what I did. After all, what is the harm in questioning truth? Truth will stand up to the toughest of scrutiny. Even the WBTS acknowledges that.

To wrap up this story, I learned enough about the TRUE GOD, that I am no longer enslaved to religion or man. Christian religions (most protestant religions, baptist, presbyterian, methodist, ect,) may be diverse on conscience lifestyle issues..i.e., alcohol being a sin. But I can tell you from my own experiences, they are united on the major issues, who God is, how we obtain salvation (faith not works) and other major stuff. In your research, you will learn why churches have state or governmental flags flying, celebration of holidays. You have a lot of questions that will take time to answer.

The only peice of advice I can give you is to PRAY. That will help you greatly. Also read. Knowledge IS power.

American Witnesses face difficult time over flag

reports are coming from the united states that small flags and flag badges are being distributed at schools and other public places.. many are refusing to take a flag and this is causing resentment and hurt feelings.

not wishing to offend, witnesses are asking their elders what they should do.. cheers,.

Dear "Wiz",

First, from your position of "neutrality", it looks like you shouldn't even offer an opinion on what has happened. It is one thing to be a protester. They at least have a standing. It's another thing to be a supporter. They at least have standing. You remind me of those that do not vote yet gripe and complain about the government they live under. It's easy to remain nuetral. Granted, it is your US Constitutional right. It's easy to sit back while someone else fights or defends you. Although, I see that you share in the shed blood of those who fight for your pacifist mentality.

Secondly, you need to do some biblical research on the Christian duties in government.

I D Cards First Step Down Slippery Slope?

the uk government has announced that it is very serious about making it compulsory for citizens to carry an id card in view of the risk of subversive activity increasing.

it seems to me that this is the thin edge of the wedge.

i spent years trying to get out of a repressive organisation, and then even more years getting that organisations brain-washing out of my head.

Listen. People are already "required" to carry identification of some sort in the US. I know that if I suspect someone of a crime and they have no means of identification, I am allowed to detain them up to 72 hrs to positively identify them thru fingerprint analysis or other means. So, a national identification doesn't make me panic.

How would you react to a sheparding call?

put aside for a moment your statis of the organization, it's saturday morning and your on the other side of the ole familar knock.

"hello i'm brotherdoesnthavealife i haven't seen you in a while" how would you react?.

it happened to me after about 6 years of being inactive and it was an elder and a c.o.

Well, first after picking myself up off the floor from total disbeleif that they were here, I would invite them in. I would then explain what Christ has done in my life. After the two hour testimony, (if they stayed past the first few sentences), I would ask that they pray to recieve Christ in their hearts and would be willing to pray with them. I'd even get a napkin for my head!

Are you telling me that there are people who preach the gospel of Christ and they are NOT JW's?
