okay... coming from those mountains in NY, I know that they do have to register with the Department of Environmental Conservation in order to keep a shale mine. Shale can be used for many things. They use it for gravel, rock walls, cement product, ect. I must admit that they probably do have a legimate reason to use it, especially when they erect all the million dollar buildings that they do.

Okay.. my take on his website.
First while crusing thru this site, I remember watching a PBS special on the Search for Noah's Ark. The main issue from actually seeing it was due to the bad weather constantly there. It's amazing how many blue skies he runs into on Mt. Ararat. Secondly they said there are political problems which keep many from exploring it. I find it funny that all those who were kept as prisioners were allowed to photograph the mountain at all. I think that it was just lovely of the captors to allow them to take pictures from different angles.
It looks like this guy either stole the ideas from the PBS documentary or he produced it.
I don't need to climb to the top of a mountain to confirm my faith that that occurred.

As far as why bad things happen -- it's life. God allows life to occur.
I think God had more to do with the Sept 11 incident then most think. Just think of the possibility of those buildings were to contain over 100,000 office workers - 4,000 lost their lives. The airliners that crashed were only about 60% full. And we should remember how bad the airlines were before with having to bump passengers to make room. The buildings could have toppled onto other buildings instead of imploding on themselves. It was a terrible tragedy to begin with, but I think God's grace spared many many folks.

i was married a little over 8 years in a kh.
i also had recorded almost every thing the wedding talk, and most of the reception.
any way the elder that gave the wedding talk was very long winded.
The above stories sound so familiar. I think that is why when I was a JW, I swore off marriage. Most of the older sisters in the KH were trying to get me married off at an early age. Thank God, HE had a bigger plan for me. I met my current and only hubby, and we are celebrating our 5th anniversary this week. HEHE.. the Lord works in the greatest of ways!
By the way, I've been to a couple of JW weddings. Their ceremonies lasted from 1-2 hours in length. My paganistic, heathen wedding only lasted 20 min. Then it was time to celebrate!

i just read this article in the chicago sun times.
when i started reading the parents were religious and then saw home-schooling, i had a gut feeling they were jw's.
i read on and found out i was right.

Too many stories that sound soooo familiar. Unfortuanately, there was a lot of physical and emotional abuse in my family. I couldn't tell what was worse, the emotional or physical. It's amazing that my mother used to tell the same stoning story. I wonder if that is a prerequisite to become a JW parent. Pretty sad. Pretty sad.

While cleaning out my closet, I found a box of tapes. Amoungst all the music tapes, I had found a tape made of a public talk by an elder in my old congregation. I popped the tape into the cassette player and began to listen to it. To all those who deny that College was discouraged in the KH's, I have a cassette tape to prove otherwise. It was a special public talk on guarding your children. Alright, so this has nothing to do with Kent's post, but sa-la-vie. Just wanted to air that one out. LOL.

at my local kmart there is always a jw table set up.
i dont get close enough to actually see what literature is set on the table but close enough to view the free bible study sign prominently displayed in the midst of books, etc.. generally, this card table is manned by two or three young women.
Obviously they started reading the scriptures about preaching in the market places. But, I wonder, was this self-sponsored work? Or has the WBTS put out an article about setting up at the local Wal-marts?
