hello, i am new to this website, but have to be straightforward and say that i do not agree with most subjects and contents.
i am an active jehovah witness, but i am very lonely so i am looking for others with the "hope" or to speak to those that know someone that does.
it has been a long , hard road for me.

Lotus, I'm new here as a poster (ancient as a lurker) but still I'm going to stick my oar in and have an opinion: You are either -
a troll, wasting our time and getting jollies, in which case go f*** yourself.
have had a spiritual experience of some kind, in which case go f*** yourself and then find another religion
A True Believer, in which case go f*** yourself and then get yourself some good counselling.
Gee, I sound a little angry don't I? Maybe it's because of all the pain in my life caused by an abusive cult. Maybe I don't like the condescending tone of somebody claiming to be one fo the "faithful and discreet slave" promising things will be better without fessing up to being wrong lying losers who've stolen lives. In any event, you're in the wrong place - not many here are going to have much respect for someone claiming a direct line to God, and offering no proof or anything of value.

yesterday an announcement was made at my local con.
and i thought i`d share it.. the watchtower announced that work on the new cd-rom is in progress and we can expect it at the end of this year.. unlike the other versions you can`t get away with win 3.1, you`ll now need at least win95.. available languages: the one already available + tjech and japanese.. some of it`s features:.
- one window (instead of several).
One little detail to check on the new CD, when somebody actually has one: how are they handling the Charles Greber references? Leave them out, and they provide a lot of ammo for apostates. Index them, and it still looks pretty bad. Or no change?

by "religious experience" i mean a moment, an incident, where you felt that god was directly addressing you thru a public talk, a watchtower article.
did god give you a "sign" that convicted you of the truth of "the truth"?.
my mother told me about one she had.
There is a quote of Alan Moore's that seems relevant here: "The one place gods indubitably exist is in human minds."

is paragraph 11 on page 12 of the april 1 watchtower an indication that candidates will no longer be baptised in the name of the organization any longer?.

This second question is one of the most remarkable examples of going beyond scripture - much more important than smoking or (gasps!) oral sex prohibitions.

i've seen this term used a lot (love-bombing) re: new jw studies.
the implication is that this is some kind of nefarious wt strategy, but, the more i think about, the less i agree.
at least, it's not an intentional strategy, i think, just something that happens that works to their advantage (getting new recruits in).. i grew up as a jw.
Path and RHW certainly capture the feeling of how this got 'enforced' in the congregations.

Also, xander, there are plenty of non-cynical "true believers" who probably are thinking something like 'my loving conduct will help them to recognize the Truth, even if I actually am more than a bit repelled by their personality and body odor."

Everything you're saying is true... but it's still love-bombing. After all, your average rank and file Moonie has similar thoughts.
Whether or not there is someone at an upper level intentionally directing the technique is an interesting but irrelevant question; a classic cult indoctrination technique is being practiced, perhaps with good intentions by the love-bomber.
