I thought the support was always for the cause, not the champion, but it seems it's another popularity contest.
What if the champion is hurting the cause?
i talked at length with ray franz this afternoon regarding the following comments by bill bowen: ray franz supports the wt policy on child abuse.
he is the author of the two eye witness rule as well as the slander issue that prevents anyone from warning another of child abuse in the congregation.
it is interesting that wt is willing to fight to the last man standing for a policy that in large part was founded by their biggest apostate.

i have only just registered at this forum and i would like to know if there are any ex jw's that live in or close to canberra, australia.. i have been shunned by all family and friends because i left the organisation (not disfellowshipped at this stage but won't be long) and i finding it hard to cope with.
i am sorry to be down but i miss all my family and friends and would love to make new friends that know what i am going through.
my boyfriend is very understanding but gets frustrated as he doesn't know why my family are doing this to me.. this sounds like a whingy post but i promise you, i am not normally like this.
RevMalk, could you please add some flashing text, or bright pink underlining or something to your posts? Somehow they don't stand out enough.

Grits, Xena's comments capture my feelings well enough. Further response by me would be superfluous.
is it possible to get happiness from a little box w a small computer inside?
i read about this kind of stuff in scifi books.

Oh, sweet Jesus you folks are gullible. It's a website selling a little shock box that lists a lot of probably bogus recommendations and refers to zero studies or independent reviews. It's worthless.

Well if it was pretty mild apology then why didn't H_S state so? Instead H_S stated publically that he accepted the apology of Bill and wished the best to Bill and his wife. I didn't here the word "mild" in H_S's comments. Nope - sorry I don't buy into that at all.
Agreed.
You made an extremely excellent point as to why Bill does owe this board a serious "mea culpa" as well as owing one to Ray.
Agreed!

hawk, I think teejay's point is that the apology was pretty mild compared to the language and tone reported by Hillary Step. I would sure like to see an explanation for words like "dickhead" and a demand to "pledge" loyalty. I believe HS; I've also seen some intemperate language from Bill on this forum - it would be nice to see an equally passionate explanation/apology.
Does he have a responsibility to do so? I would say yes, because he has appealed to this board at times, to raise support for the march for example. Speaking for myself, I am trying to find a way to respect and support Bill and Silentlambs, and a detailed explanation of conduct that seems bizarre would be a big help. I would like to use this issue as a way to discuss WTS shortcomings with my JW wife, and erratic behaviour makes it pretty hard to do so.
peace
i recently mentioned that my ex-wife cindy had lost her father in very unpleasant circumstances.
i spoke to her yesterday, and she gave me some information that i would like to share.
hopefully, i can garner some useful information here that i can pass on to her via an email link to this site.. cindy's aged father was a devout jw.
She would be telling the truth, and giving the WTS bad publicity; sounds like a win-win situation to me.
i'd like to inject a note of sanity into this wasp's nest of disgusting apostate vermin.
between all the bickering and backbiting, you have, as the scriptures foretold, not noticed that the day is upon you.
already it is the auspicious month of october.
Wonderful parody. Author?

Self-selected anecdotal evidence, no independent studies - works for the Watchtower, it'll probably work for these guys too...
i have seen (edited to add the word "posted" here, for clarification purposes) on this board that bill bowen is still a jw at heart, and i have seen posts and transcipts of his where he refers to the "christian" way of handling matters.
i have it on good authority that bill is not concerned with the bible, and that he is as far from being a jw as could be (religiously speaking).
bill has refused to answer my inquiries as well as others' when asked about his position on religious/jw matters that have a bearing on his silentlambs credibility based upon direct statements made by him.
I'd sure like to see Bill respond to HS's comments that he (Bill) called HS a "dickhead" and asked for a "pledge". HS's post, and Bill's on line irregularities here (esp. that ridiculous letter), lead me to believe that the Silentlambs organization has grown into something that Bill is not able to handle. He needs some help - surely, aside from the particular religious issues, other child-abuse groups have something to offer. Incidentally, Silentlambs is something I couldn't handle either - I don't think Bill is less of a person for that.
W/regard to Cygnus's comments re: Silentlambs purpose - I agree to a point; but, it does strike me as enormously significant that files of abusers are kept in a central location, and this information isn't made available when it can do good.
