  it stands to reason that a reactionary organization must react.. so, the watchtower must do something to confront the rising tide of exposure.

  and opposition that grows daily.. they react by lying, claiming persecution, shunning whistleblowers, downsizing,.

  Sex Scandal in Montana

  it has been brought to my attention that there may be a major scandal working in the billings montana area.

  it involves more than ten elders in a motel room at the district convention this summer and 14-16 year old girls.

  my information source says there is more to come with possible charges being filed, but key jw's work for social services there and are involved in the investigation.

  First of all, I have never called Bill a troll and do not believe that he is one. The suggestion is offensive.

  Second, Eric, the question about your wife was intended as a reference to a classic example of a leading question. I had assumed you would catch the allusion, but perhaps it has greater currency in America than in Canada. I apologize for my clumsiness. I certainly have no reason to believe that you mistreat your wife, or even that you have one.

  But your response makes my point nicely: the question Bill asked was also specific and misleading, likely to offend, and needlessly damages his reputation. A general question could have been answered directly to Bill. Or at least he would not have been the one spreading dubious details.

  If it turns out that this situation never gets corroborated and stays in the realm of hearsay, how is it that Bill's reputation will be damaged by his simply asking for information?

  By asking such a sensational question, he is spreading details of a salacious rumor. If it (more than likely) turns out to be false, or greatly exaggerated, Bill has shown himself to be gullible, and over eager to believe ill of JWs. This hurts his credibility when representing Silentlambs.

  If he was looking for confirmation, he could have asked far more discreetly ("Anyone hear any rumors about Billings? Email me.").

  By the way, Eric, have you stopped beating your wife yet?

  CO's and DO's meeting in the UK

  at the risk of being called a "troll" again , i will share just one of the items discussed at the co's and do's emergency meeting.

  so as not to be doubted, this is to be covered at most/all of the co's and do's visits over the next 6 months in the uk.

  the society is concerned about the level of waste and expense caused by excess wt and awakes being ordered by the brothers and sisters which are then not put into the hands of the public.

  Troll. In your first post on this subject, you claimed that this was an emergency meeting to discuss response to media coverage of the child abuse scandals. You offered no confirmation, and now seem to be backing away from this claim - there is nothing especially urgent about donation shortfalls, they're rather old news.

  Now you supposedly offer more confidential information, with no evidence beyond your say so. Were you at the meeting? Can you post a scan of the agenda?

  which implies that you have access to knowledge that the WTS attempts to keep confidential. If true, you should be able to produce a scan of a letter, or perhaps corroborating statements from someone else on the board who also has access to confidential elder info. That wouldn't be spectacular proof, but it would be something. In the absence of even this, you are simply spreading stories.

  I made a statement, if you disagree that's OK.

  Okay, I disagree. But, to be clear, I am not calling you a liar. I've just heard way too many second-hand, "friend of a friend" stories that turned out to be BS to believe that your tale of secret elder directives is very close to the truth - I believe it to be a distortion, twisted in the retelling.

  If you're not prepared to back up your statements, you probably shouldn't make them. This community is not well-served by repetition of gossip.
