  Drinking at meetings / assemblies / conventions ... who's done it?

  for me .... 1).

  last district convention after having 'read up' (took some family to it).. 2).

  last 'meeting' to watch step-father-in-law finally get his and get disfellowshipped for molestation.. ...both were taking vodka shots in the bathroom.. i'm sure there's lots of good stories out there..

  haha, yeah, I came in as a youngster in '85'ish. Your ways were old light.

  That's awesome. I can just see inappropriate groping of the sundresses blamed on the menu! Not to mention the 70's were just overall sleazy to begin with. Cool beans.

  for some reason my neighborhood gets worked over by the jws constantly.

  they are here every week going up and down the streets.

  it's a comfortable, safe neighborhood with nice houses.

  Einstein out of context

  the opening chapter of dawkins "the god delusion" talks about some quotes of albert einstein taken out of context to imply that he believed in a traditional god or supported religious views of god.. i'm pretty sure i've read einstein quotes in the watchtower publications doing this exact thing - anyone else?.

  Yeah, a long time ago i remember reading the first few pages of an Einstein book.

  Two things struck me...

  1). A familiar quote was on page 2 or something - like deep study, eh?

  2). A page later (page 3 in this example) there was a thought there's no way the WT would publish.

  Fuzzy memory but I remember my wife laughing and agreeing.

  Therefore, I must be correct!

  I will say that before a descent into detail is had it would have been nice to have at least one believer comment on the big picture point: That men decided which books are the bible.
