Good question. No, no I don't. Never thought about it either. Just another boring talk I guess. I remember being pleased that my inlaws would get off of my back about not being baptized ... after all I was the ripe ol' age of 20! That didn't last... there was always something for them to dig at me about. But the talk... not a word in my memory, haha.

'Apostates want to draw people after themselves'--what are they really implying?
by sd-7 inwhen jws say this, what are they really saying?
i was pondering this recently, and i was thinking...what they're really trying to imply is simple:.
apostates are thus accused of attempting to be cult leaders.. because the idea is that since they're not getting people to follow christ, but follow themselves, then they want their 'victims'' belief system to be centered around an individual, following that person's directions.

It always nagged at me that we were spending so much time pouring over every minute detail about other religions and why they were wrong, but, if somebody criticizes 'The Society' in the slightest we were programmed to be all like "Talk to the hand!".

Do you still use Jehovah's name?
by naazira inwhen you pray do you still use the name jehovah.
i still do.

Nope.
If there were something bigger than ourselves out there it would be much, much, much bigger than petty Jehovah.

Bitter apostates
by Laika inwitnesses often go on about apostates being spiteful and bitter.
when you get cut off, shunned, or threatened with shunning just for the audacity of thinking differently, it's not surprising that getting angry at the witnesses is the reaction - it's like a self fulfilling prophecy.. but also, i recently posted an email from a 'friend' on this board who told me that everyone he'd spoken to about me said i had changed, become like another person.
it didn't occur to him that the day before i told my parents i'd quit the religion just 3 weeks ago, i met him for lunch, we had a good time and he didn't know anything was up.

Yup, sounds like it's starting to get more painful to stay where you are than do something else. Once it has... it's easier to change.
All people do this to some point... we like our status quo... ask/observe any addict.

How long do you believe Born Agains and JWs will wait for Rapture/Armaggeddon?
by booker-t ini feel so sorry for devout bacs (born again christians) and devout jws because they are spending their whole lives waiting for something that may or may not come.
i sometimes want to cry when i speak with my 80 yr old jw mom and hear her say armaggeddon is around the corner.
or hear my born again aunt say "the rapture is near and jesus will take her to heaven soon" i just want to shake both of them.

Many will wait until they die.
Furthermore, they will believe right up to their death that 'life sucks!', and, this beautiful planet is 'Satan's playground', and, will never realize that most people are 'good'.
What a waste of their one life.

Cedars - Even more crazy than the ban against playing chess?!
Yes! The cartoons and drawings about how evil aluminum cooking ware, etc was. Crazy!
I knew TTATT for a while and then clued into the 'aluminum crusades'... Yup, I was shocked!

"It's possible that we may all become brothers together"?
Wow... that is woman hate at it's finest.
I know 'homophobia is gay' but this new system they envisioned is really, really one big unappealing hot dog party!

"People often wonder if deaf people can drive, get married, or raise a family."
Do they?
No.
The marketing department of this organization should be fired for allowing this sentence to stay in their material. One more indication that people in this sheltered organization would really struggle in the real world.
