i was a born-in, and in for over five decades.

I'll say like many others... happier to be not judging people as worldly and realizing I can have a connection with them.

i remember being in high school hoping i would make it to see graduation sometimes even praying for it as i could feel the end was near.
but i graduated leaving behind prospects for school because i knew i needed to work hard in service to prove i deserved the real life.
i heard a talk at a convention that nearly guaranteed this system would be wrapping up soon and it scalded my mind with assurance that i was not sacrificing for anything.. i remember in the keynote address the speaker said we would only be back for another convention if god wanted.
Five years later isn't bad at all. Be happy about that. Very happy.
i never mind seeing the witnesses on the ministry.
but whenever i see this one guy i want to run him over.

at the recent dc, we had the 1 hour drama on sunday that focused on trusting in jehovah, no matter what events come up.
in the opening scene, we see a father watching a news broadcast on tv, and he learns that jw's have been banned, overnight.. this got me thinking, again.
almost weekly, we hear about persecution coming, soon soon soon!

Also, I remember in the 80's a youngish couple putting WT, etc.. in the drywalled in walls of their home when they did a renovation. "When we are banned at lease we'll have something to read to keep our faith up". That type of acute paranoia has been going on for quite some time.

in just the several months i've been lurking here, i have benefited from many of the posters comments and viewpoints.
this is truly a special place for the unique community that has been created here.. after years of holding off my exit from the org (that may be another post) i recently became officially out (by letter of da), but it was a very difficult process as many of you know.
thankfully, i now have my wife (was also a witness) onboard and we support each other.

male or female it doesnt matter, being a jehovers witness represented for me a true dehumanization of my male personlaity.
why?because my very masculinitu was defined by my watchtower spirituality and how i advanced in the organization.. now i have left the witnesses i feel more relaxed about my masculinity, that i dont need any longer to prove myself to anybody.
in fact i would say that by leaving that authoritarian regime i have become more sensitive, more caring for both myself and others and an infinity more positive and worthwhile individual.
There were some 'brothers' that were so obviously gay that it was painful to watch. Looking back I feel sorry for them and how unhappy the organization must have made them.
For me, a bit the opposite, not trying to be too funny here.
I was able to drop the "faggy 'I love Jesus' voice" and just be myself... you know, a man.... without coming across as somebody who hates authority.
