Scripturally-Speaking, Do You Think First Century Christians Were Taught To "Hate" All Apostates???

here are some searching questions about the governing body's public position on the prescribed treatment of all "apostates" against the organization, as taught at the most recent summer assemblies of jehovah's witnesses, in the year of 2013.. in your opinion, why does not the verse (shown below) not apply to how jehovah's witnesses are currently taught to feel about "apostates," and their activities toward the organization?

the verses in question, are from the words of jesus who clearly said:.

"however, i say to you: continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you that you may prove yourselves sons of your father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.

i agreed, if only because i want to see my friend of many years.

the 'heavy' is a large, imposing man with a booming voice and is a creature of the gb through and thru (eg only visited his dfd dad on his death bed because it was a 'good witness' to the hospital staff) and i'm feeling stressed about seeing him.

i so badly wanted to see my friend though, i agreed without thinking and now wish i hadn't have.

No, all this is never in vain. A year or two from now you will laugh at the absurdity of it all. But for now your example is inspirational, helping those who are lurking. Some have gone through it all, some are busy experiencing it, and some will have to experience something similar in the near future. I keep on marvelling that something as benign as the WT, can turn into such a monster. If you allow them, the hounders will hound you to death.

Sorry, Julia, there goes your blood sugar. Believe it or not, this type of thing is bad for your health. If you take your blood sugar and blood pressure when you're under such duress, you will get a big surprise. The body goes into "fight or flight" mode. This is to help you get out of such circumstances once or twice a year. But to allow your body to regularly undergo such punishment is bad news. This just touches on phsyiological effects, not even mentioning the emotional effects to those close to you. So, this type of confrontation should be avoided at all costs. And as you said, it is not worth the effort. As the general advice goes, ditch conditional friends and start afresh. Start enjoying your life. Do not look back.

A Watcher, my point is the GB as collective must take responsibility for all cock-ups since 1919. This is according to their own words. Amongst them are the UN/OSCE fiasco, the protection of pedophiles, Mexico/Malawi scandal, and many, many more. Methinks their sins are piling up to high heaven. I can see why you follow their direction. They are brave, brave men (or very stupid).

Recently, the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses has claimed the title “faithful and discreet slave” for themselves. This is a serious matter. When Jesus, as the master, returns and finds his slave to be faithful, he will appoint him over all his belongings. But when he arrives, and finds him beating his fellow slaves while imbibing with confirmed drunkards, he will be severely punished (Matt. 24:45-51; Luk. 12:41-48; cf. Rev. 18:3). In fact, he will be sentenced to death (Rev. 13:16 , 17; 14:9-12; 15:2; 16:2; 17:8; cf. 14:1, 4, 5).

I thought these scriptures go hand in hand. Note: Verse 1, they have the name of the Father and Lamb on their foreheads. [One cannot have the name of the Father and the Lamb AND the mark of the beast. Cf. Rev. 13:16. The GB of JWs don’t qualify. According to the Revelation Climax-book you receive the mark of the beast when you become involved with the beast.]

Verse 5: “and no falsehood was found in their mouths; they are without blemish.” [Again the GB of JWs don’t qualify. Theocratic warfare = lying, is a stock in trade for them.]

How will the WT spin China???

i read an article this morning on how china is quickly reaching even footing with the united states in all aspects; military, economic etc.

the article continued saying how it was imperative that the united states recognize that it would be forced to behave accordingly or risk ddestabilizing the world.

another interesting statement was made that sooner rather than later the u.s. would become the 2nd largest economy falling behind china.

*lost*, this is from Wiki. If you are interested in broadening the meaning of the word, then go for it. But strictly speaking, it only refers to JWs in the Soviet Union. The other meanings then don't apply.

600 people up and left the DC after the 'apostate' talk?

an 'apostate' inactive jw in america i know on facebook went to the dc and said fully 600 people left between the end of the apostate talk and the lunch break.

have any of you who also went to the dc seen something like this happen?

Laverite, I enjoyed reading your story. It certainly is inspiring! I have a theory about the six hundred. After the apostasy talk, they felt the urge to vomit, so they reasoned, must be coming down with something. Must get home. So, would you be so kind and explain to us what happens to the human psyche on a subliminal level when one is exposed to such high levels of hatred and abuse.
