A lot of people raised in the truth take great pide in this. I am a third generation JW and it is sort of a status symbol. Also, i know an elder who felt we were letting a lot of wordly people in the truth and they were bringing in their wordly ways-not like raised in the truth jw. They were sort of more refined. The people who came into the truth as adults somehow always flet the need to apologize for their life before jw.

by DanTheMan ini found it humorous and sad and revealing when i was in jerhover's borganization that this is the reaction i often got from the younger, raised in the troof jws.
reading facial expressions and body language, it was more than apparent to me that they were thinking, "you mean you weren't forced into this??
you actually chose to be a jw??!!".

They are fearful that the jw lurkers will get their e-mail address. I know that there was a list floating around for a while. I once had it in my possession. Not all of us are offically "out" of the org. and are afraid someone will be able to idnetifly us as hanging around apostate boards. If us wish to call that parnoid-go ahead but it is the truth. I remember hearing people talk about it in the mid 90's the wts was unoffically monitering the boards and there was indeed a list of supsected apostates. This was done to protect innocent jw form talking to apostates. There are people out her who want to talk onthe boards but stay in the org-at least offically.

Death in family/JW funeral

my mother, a faithful jw, finally died after a long illness.i had been by her side all the way., my brother& wife , the jw ,rarely made an apperance-but showed up at last minute to make sure he got her jewelry.
he rarely showed up because i am not active so not considered good association.also he had no close feelings for her.

Only a grandmother or mother waould post this-but i'm going to do it. We are all in the jprocess of potty training my 2 grandgirls. Today, one of them was able to do # 1 in the toliet. I'm so proud!!!!!

Death in family/JW funeral

Thank u all so much for your words of kindnesss. althought my mom was a loyal jw-she was old and sick and most of the cong. forgot her. So much for respect for the elderly.I am truly gratelful i was able to be with her and mend whatver problems we had ever had in our relationship. I was not always her favorite. My brother-the JW, well he was. But in the end-he wanted really nothing to do with her and i had to call and beg him to come see her. i did it because it meant a lot to her. I called the JW's to come see her because it gave her strength. 2 elders came and did read to her and pray with her. It helped her. The nursing home said they learned gratefulness from her.Funny, many years ago-i remember my mom telling me that JW were not good wijth illlness or anything they veered for the normal. So if all was well in your life-u were welcome. having problems-u are not welcome. My mom knew jw were not always kind-she often said this. But she was willing to hang on and forgive them. She was raised in the truth (so yes i am a third generation)
I had my children really young(17) . they are strong willlled people. They saw the hyprocoisy in jw long before i did. Neither was baptized and just walked away. I hope my son will decide not to go to iraq. I feel he better serve his county by raising his children. I love him dearly, and we are both still young. I still watn more time wijth him.

This has been a most dreadful 2 weeks for me. I could not help but notice how disjointed and confusing the sermon was on death. If i had not known what he was trying to get accross, i would have been very confused.I found no comfort in the sermon .My 2 non jw sons barely could get through it.However during the time of my mothers illness, i applauded her faith and helped her, because it is proven that most any kind of faith will help a person endure death easier.
I've been wihout a computer the last 2 weeks so i had no idea how the silent lambs march went-until i checked it out on the web. Looks like the WTS just gave them the cold shoulder. Pity the powerless-those without lawyers to hide the filthy facts.
i am feeling depressed and ill. Many things trouble me. My son, is determined to go fight if necessary in the war on iraq. He and his wife met oversees and have given me and my husband 2 beautiful children.. But he is willing to leave them with family not me,(i'm too sick and he wants no jw infulence)and go defend our country.
Anyway, jusdt wanted to check back in and see how everyone is. wednesday

Caught on Tape Beating Child

there is no telling where this woman is but somebody from somewhere must know who she is and i would think turn her in.

When i was growing up it was not unusaul to see someone take a child out of the hall for a beating. My own father who was bipolar(untreated) and an alcoholic, once chased me around the neighborhood in the nude waving a belt. I know that is bizzare, but it is true. not one singal neighbor reported anything. I ran faster than him and hid out till the evening. Eventually i had to come home. I'm sort of blank about what hapened -for sure i know i got beat. But no one reported things in that time-the 50-and 60. it was very rare to report. Lots of kids got beatings-pare for the course.
My heart goes out to this child. She'll have years of therapy ahead of her. I hope someone catches her mom and beats the hell out of her. Sometimes cats are better mothers thatn humans.

The WTS will "hang them out to dry" if it involves money and their reputation. I have heard a number of elders say in the past they were very discourged and some have stept down due to being held responsible for so much. Just the WTS whipping boys.

before my dad went into surgery he asked that i contact the people on this board and let them know how much it ment to him much it ment to him over the past month or so to be able to talk with all of you.. this is one of the few things in his life he could still enjoy.dad wanted to especially thank craig (ona ) for accepting him and apologies for anything he said that might have offended you.. my father was in so much pain over the past seven years ,god must have thought it was time,dad passed a few houres after surgery.. dad asked not to have a service and will be cremated than placed in an urn ( as he said "so he can keep an eye on mom" ) we all loved him deeply and he will be missed.
