  i've just read an intersting article on the flood to do with dates and whether is was truly global or a regional flood.. http://www.commentarypress.com/essay-flood.html.

  my father used to be an elder for many years and the flood was one of the things that made him walk away not just from the jw but also belief in the bible.

  he was hung up on issues like the flood taking place about 3500 bc and how that fit in with the pyramids.. i don't know much about egyptian history or the ages of the big pyramids, but his reasoning was if the flood wiped out every human on earth except noah etc then at 3500 bc there were only 8 people on earth.

  right....With your attitude, I am sure all the ladies just flock to you...

  Not really, just the ones with the right attitude. Only those girls who do not get offended easily, can think for thelmselves, dont mind asking or accepting a real solution AND distinguish a jerk from a real man. Besides "attitude" in cyberspace is different when you play reality, actually i can not see you smiling... and i never use a video camera in cyberspace.

  Are you asking why I believe the transmitters of the flood account thought it was a global one? Or are you asking why I believe the Bible in general?

  NOw i would say both, but my initial question was sticking to the topic only.

  I went back on this thread to find what A cristian is trying to prove but I am tired and could not find it.

  I did find interesting the following comment, assuming it is true.

  As A Cristian suggest It also seem like besides Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel there were some more people living around, who were they? Nod... (male?, most likely) was one of them. Genesis does not even mention who "married" Cain, but i think it does menion all male children from Adam.

  14 Behold, thou hast driven me this day away from the ground; and from thy face I shall be hidden; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will slay me." 15 Then the LORD said to him, "Not so! If any one slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who came upon him should kill him

  Does the Genesis account reveal that the preparation and the flood itself was global?

  Does the Cristian message about the flood, as presented in the "scriptures" reveal an understanding of a global flood by the writers?.

  there are many thing i dont regret about jw

  learning from jw about cristmas is one of them

  the jw were very open about cristmas, going against the "system" require some strenght and that in itself attracted many to the jw org.

  for how long ago have they been doing it did you say?

  recently "local" newspapers had no choice but to incidentally publish what has been known for years, through wt propaganda machinery.

  "local" is local, world wide is

  world wide delivery by by the wt at a low cost to your home

  at a time when most people did not even read newspapers, much less playboy, still most people do not read newspapers or have internet..

  For some, like myself, that evidence came to them as a result of long personal studies of both science and the Scriptures which convinced them that the Bible is inspired by God.

  You are "conviced" that the Bible is inspired by God, but you are not willing to share exactly how you arrived to such conclusions.. Proving that the bible is inspired may be the appropiate starting point.

  Every child whom God adopts He adopts personally.

  Can you explain the criteria "He" uses for adopting?
