How large is Societies legal department?
by puffthedragon ini was just thinking about the wt attack on education and wondered where they would be without it.. does anyone know how large the legal department is at bethel?

Hypocrisy 101 - Watchtower has Payed for College/College Courses for Bethelites!

i was out to eat this weekend with two bethelites.
one gave a talk in my hall and i was invited out to dinner with them by another family in my hall.. as the conversation always turns to "spiritual" things, the subject of education was brought up.

what is the dumbest thing you've been reproved/chided/df'd for?
by rather be in hades ini'm a big science nerd and i remember when we were going over the creator book, that the big bang doesn't necessarily prove there is no god.. i said this comment during book study and the conductor's jaw dropped.
everyone was pretty uncomfortable and it didn't help that he ct me off as i was explaining the red shift and mom wasn't too happy about all that.
i had to do a lot of bible research and write some nonsense about how the big bang was not reality or some sort...ugh.. .

Rocky Girl- you poor thing what a-holes. Was someone trying to settle a score with your parents? There was a guy who was appointed an Elder in the early 70s. Pompus, dumb guy, IQ barely above that of a brick. He was a terror in the hall causing all sorts of problems. A mature older brother told him "he really wasn't qualified"- they eventually reproved the older brother "because he was calling into question Gods arrangement" !!

WELCOME!!! Lots of good advice here. For now keep your identity secret and mouth closed. Do some reading. Show your family lots of love and spend extra time with them on FUN short weekend trips AWAY from the hall. A good time will be had by all!! A little exposure to the outside world is good. Some natural history and history on TV, some CDs, perhaps a museum or two might start to get them thinking.... Open those minds and hearts. A lot can be found in PDFs or online so you do not have to bring "Apostate" material into the house. (Clear your search history).

There is a HUGE list of crazy things I have known JWs to be Reproved for. It starts with some dumb thing some bozo elder has a problem with. When the JW says it is none of his business..it can escalate to "causing Divisions", "Walking Disorderly" or "Loose Conduct".
1. Being seen with worldly person of opposite sex. Eating lunch, having coffee, Riding Bikes etc.
2. Making an Elder the butt of joke. - "speaking abusively of glorious ones" (Worth it)
3. Sister not wearing elders approved garb. No Nylons, skirt to short, boobs to big, denim skirt etc etc ect.
4. Brother not having current "approved hairstyle",mustach, sideburns, too short, too long , etc, etc, etc,
5. Farting- yes Farting!!
6. Being late- yes - "God is a god of order"
7. Being funny- "Not serious minded".
8. Mention of getting a little "buzzed" while on vacation.
9. Fill in the blank:______________
The worst is "Private reproof" sometimes the publisher has no idea this is recorded in files and follows them in a letter from congregation to congregation for years. No use of the hall for Weddings, no parts on the stage, no appeal, no pesky forms to send back to Bethel, no giving of prayers, and no need to discuss brother with C.O. for appointment untill he is "off restrictions" for a few years. Keeps some guys from being considered as servants or Elders for YEARS...and they have no idea of why. Very effective for keeping boat rockers in check.

How I obtained my personal files from Bethel
by jwfacts init has taken me a long time, but i have finally put together an article outlining how i used the law to force bethel to send me my personal files.

in brief, in 2006 i requested that bethel send me my files on the basis that the australian privacy act 1988 entitles people to receive a copy of any information a corporation holds about them.

Finally Awake, Curious with the tax shortfalls for most states, do States ever look "behind the curtain" at Religions, or is that only on a Federal Level?
In the past I have always gotten more questions on business tax returns from the state than from the IRS. A few other business people have told me the same.

I would think that Candaces award influenced WTBT$ to pay out MUCH bigger settlements. Another HUGE PUBLIC loss would open the floodgates of litigation.
