  Fifth Estate Program in Canada - Former Jehovah's Witness from NH - Whistleblower

  tif21 - had posted about the fifth estate (which was great), but i know most people outside of canada, will be unfamiliar with the show and the cbc.. here is the link to last night's program.

  it features a young woman who had faced sexual abuse as a jw, and how little to next to nothing was done.

  when she finally had enough ... well, you'll see what happens next.

  Ways the Society Could Reduce the Cash Needed in the Condice Conti Case

  perhaps others have ideas, but here is a way the society could avoid the "immediate irreparable harm and hardship" as they claim in the condice conti attorneys:.

  --> allow the society to use the patterson property instead of cash for the surety bond (as they request) in exchange for 25 year naming rights to the patterson complex.. perhaps something like "the condice conti christian education center of patterson" ... or something similar.. any other ideas ?.

  I dont know how the legals work in the US but i hope that Contis lawyers dont back out now.

  The wts has huge reserves it could call in. ie sell some property..yes?

  Many comments on this program confuse realities.

  'JW are nice people' is one but in saying that they deny the abuse that is endemic.

  Non-JW family members who are overly RESPECTFUL and PROTECTIVE of the JW's.

  in my immediate family only my dad was never a jw.

  my brother was the first to leave when he was 15, i left some twenty years later.

  my mum always was and still is the hardcore jw 'hub' of the family and she also brought in her sister and nephew.. now here's the thing.

  Well you have had more eloquent answers than mine but ask yourself 'what do i want here?'

  Why do you persist in discussing the 'truth' with said rekatives knowing as you do the inevitable outcome.?

  Perhaps you have to 'agree to disagree'.

  and there are some very good answers here above mine and i take my hat off to those who have answered. Take their queue and save yourself a lot of grief but whatever is done by the WTS is their choosing and their rules.

  For family to bring in blame even before the 'event' smacks to me of a lot of insecurity there.

  Did you ever shun people when you were a dub? How did it feel?

  okay, i don't know lots of people that were df'd, but of all the times i've encountered df people when i was a dub, they actually blanked me!

  it was always something that i had fixed in my mind that the jws had dead wrong, even when i was an uber dub.

  i remember several times when i used to arrive late at meetings, and i'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step.

  Paul said, 'treat these ones as those of the world'. Do we shun people around us in our workplace, school or at the shops?

  I am so thankfull that I never did. If i saw such ones I would acknowledge them and leave it up to them. If this is a little distant its because i never love bombed anyone anywhere. Too many JW live inside each others lives. Too many JW are part of a tribe and are incapable of being an individual.

  Heythere Nicolaou,

  This is standard 'blame' tactics. Isnt it great to have someone to blame.

  Your cousins are weak minded dills why bother with them or their mother. Buy a copy of the Koran (In english) and leave it where they will see it next time they come by. That should get the convo off the'truth'.

  My First Presidential Election

  i voted for the first time in my life in 2010, but this is the first presidential election since my awakening and subsequent fade from the jws!

  i can't wait!

  that's not to say i'm really excited about either candidate (i'm not), but this is another exciting milestone in my exit and healing process.

  Thats funny, there was a tiny tiny mention about voting being a matter of conscience many months ago and a tiny tiny little note put up on the KH notice board.

  I read your notes with some sadness. All this worry about what goes into the mind. while this is true it must also be countered with what never goes into those minds.

  I read your notes in minutes and read not skimmed. again i reflect that a series of bros took hours, hours of repitition to deliver this information.

  So often at Assy in my mind I am screaming 'get to the point!'

  Il comment on one piece of the sister who was offered University (funny isnt it how none of the bros n sister are ever offered a trade job) but she denied the opportunity. Lost opportunity and it sends to teachers the message 'dont bother with jw kids'.

  Need advice

  so i recently returned to the truth.

  i was raised by an elder and jw family.

  25 years later i am a new unbaptized publisher.. i have a problem i hope you all can give advice.

  Well.. you are back in the 'truth' that is for sure. Self doubt self destruct bashing your self and then causing trouble with your wife...

  Is it this or is it that.. is a sign of too much time on your hands. Do you have a creative hobby?

  Take the advice of 'mond-blown' and go see a therapist and do it pronto! and that does not mean elders ! ( from sad experience)
