last night one of the elders had a part in the service meeting where he informed the congregation that we are not sending our fair share to the wbts.
the congregation seems to be doing okay when it comes to contributing to the local congregation so that electric bills can be paid and so forth.
but when it comes to literature (the worldwide work), the congregation is woefully negligent.. according to this brother, a circuit overseer has recently stated that if witnesses still had to pay for their literature as they used to, individual watchtower and awake!
There has always been a tremendous waste since the inception of the donation only for magizines, books and videos, cds etc.
I use to through mine out when I had tons of extra magizines I hated to do that but I had no other choice. My ex always was in the service so he placed alot of literature. But still we had alot and when we got the bound volumes we didn' t keep our personal copies.
I always kept my KM though and had alot of them but I think my ex still has them and I still have most of my literature books and cd roms. Just for reference only.
It isn't difficult to see why the Society isn't getting enough money , some witnesses never ask people for a dontaion and then you have the cost of daily living, gasoline, groceries, rent or house payments, utilities. insurance and whatever else to make ends meet and in this day and age everything is expensive. Gasoline is priced beyond belief. Who can afford to live in this day and age? And then the Society pressures the witnesses to give and give till it hurts. They have no pity. But hey at least the WTS isn't to worried I am sure because so many witnesses have bequeathed their estates to the organization. So they will get their money some how.
The quote from the Zion's watchtower is quite interesting, because you can see the day approaching when they may not be able to continue publishing on account of the law suits against them. We just have to wait and see. And I bet you thought I was going to say we have to wait on Jehovah.. ha ha I fooled ya.

My favourtie carol is "Come all ye Faithful", and Handel's Messiah. I am going to see John MacDermett this coming Tuesday.
I can hardly wait. I am sorry I don't know how to get You Tube to upload here.

You can say that twice. However if they did inflict illness on someone they had better run.

since the wt has always capitalized on secrecy, aren't we playing into their game when we leave silently?
wouldn't it be better to make as much noise as possible when leaving?
it would be of great help if each individual who leaves for matters of conscience or disagreement with doctrine wrote a letter to his entire congregation and family explaining his view on the issues.
When I left I made no noise , I left quietly and that is what shocked the congregation to its foundation. No one in a million years expected me to leave the organization. Not even my family. They said to me they could understand me divorcing my ex but couldn't comprehend my leaving the "truth", that was a absoulety confounding to them.
I think though my mother knew in her heart I was on my way out. She practically said I was a good for nothing JW and if she felt I was n't any good or stood a chance with God I thought well that is it, I am leaving. Along with all the other reasons that I have expressed over all the years I have been on JWD.
There are times I wish I had sounded a trumpet and made all kinds of noise but then they would have thought of me as a screaming banshee and that I didn't need. My silence was my testimony. I know not if my ex got in trouble but I don't really care he got his just desserts. He married on the rebound and is miserable as hell. Not that I wished that upon him, but he refused to listen to the elders who told him he was making a grave error with that sister. Now he wishes he had listened to them. You know that old adage Silence is Golden and Speech is duck tape. (silver).

i have been virtually non-stop studying everything i can get my hands on with regards the wtbts, and "apostate" literature and information.
in all honesty, 80% at least is non-sense and over critical.
however, i do find about 20% (if i have to create a percentage reference) is appropriate in its line of reasoning and questioning.
Lets see the Society is over 125 yrs roughly so they are pretty adept at making things look smooth as silk as if they never even said what you think they said. That is how much finesse they have. You scratch your head and say it that what they said and here I thought it was something else. It was something else alright but the Organziation can blind you so easily that you believe your wrong and they are right and there in lies the trick to brain washing.

If the law says to stay in doors during an epidemic or pandemic they should obey the laws of the land, if they don't then they deserve to get ill and suffer the consquenses. Like when Toronto and surrounding area was hit badly with SARS it was not allowable for anyone to leave their homes if a member in the family had it. Quarintine was in affect.
But knowing JW's the way we do, some always try to get around it and disobey the law only to thier own chagrin.

its been a while, i've not heard from you.
i hope that you are back and have been reinstated.
been wanting to talk to you for, well literally years now.
Sass, how about this , Nice to hear from you Ben after all these years. I hope that you are well.
I am doing wonderfully. Couldn't be happier, I am sorry to hear your depressed. I have been there but no longer, I am so happy and free of the burdens that are a part of being a JW. I wish you could feel just a small portion of the happiness I feel now that I am not longer under the suppression of the Organization. A whole new world has openned up for me. Iwould like it if you would call me or maybe we could meet for coffee and catch up on the last several years. What do say, Ben.? Then
either have him give you his number or you give him yours.
Hope for the best, maybe he is having second thought about the organization and his contacting you was not just by chance.
all the best Sass

http://www.sendspace.com/file/osfaqf cheers!
excellent post, thanks for that link I enjoyed reading the same ole stuff that JWs GB's said so long ago and still say the same things today.
I love what they call Babylon the Great, the Federation of Churches. and they claim they don't put anyone down but all they do is condemn the churches clerics, Jews, and catholic, and governments and then in the next breathe say they don't speak out against them. Give me a break who are they kidding. Same message, just in a different package. I see they really loathe the Catholic Church big time.

i know there are many here that were born into the religion and there are those who have family that were or are involved and that usually sparks an interest.. what about those who become interested by their campaining?
what influenced others here to become a jehovah's witness?.
what influenced you?.
some people are looking for friends or social contacts thinking maybe Jw's offer this until they find out what theyare really about and sometimes it is too late.
my case was different I had not choice, I was nearly thirteen and my parents started studing with the witnesses and so we had to comply and if we didn't we were told that when we were 16 we could leave home. I don't ever remember him(my dad) saying that to us but that is what he apparently he saidto my aunt Maryand grandma but not to us kids and had i known that I would have left it then lock stock and barrel and moved in with my dear grandma.
stranage how things turn out in life. But one thing is certain i am no longer one and that is all that matters now.
