Do Not Call List
by anglise indo not call list.
an ex-jw in the uk has come up with a brainwave!!.
he canvassed his local area and came up with a signed list of several thousand householders who did not wish to be called on again by jehovahs witnesses.. this list was then handed to the local congregations and the london bethel who were then obliged to list all those households as do not calls.. has anyone else tried this?

Our American Flag
by Vienna indoesn't it feel good to not be a jw at this point in history?
through the fear of the last few days, i do have comfort from scripture about my eternal salvation through jesus (as a witness you never felt secure with god--don't miss a meeting or field service for long or you're out), but also because my husband and i can display our american flag on our cars and in front of our house to support our country!.
as americans, we will not stand for terrorism and i'm proud to be in this country.

at 4 pm pst i secured on my sandwich board outside my business a 5x3 canadian flag,,,,,at 7 pm i lit my candle,,,it was a very strange feeling for me,,having left 3 yrs ago....only those here would understand,,,if nothing else,,,those driving by would think....think of the losses of those in nyc, and beyond....
i was raised in the military,,,then at 20 became a jw,,,,i recall the many door where i was shooed away by those who served in wars,,,as my own father did,,,,
i also raise the canadian flag along with my american friends,,,,in honour of my father,,,,

Bethel rules... fables or truth...
by MrMoe incan you all enlighten me, i have heard certain "bethel rules" and wanted to find out if they are fact or fiction.
1. only one item on any surface at any time (a phone or lamp etc.. as long as it is just 1 item.).
2. allowance of $80 a month for toiletries etc... (has that allowance gone up).

when i went to bethel,,,,they had little fridges, where the wine was kept,,so yes theydo drink there,,,probably in coffee cups :)

about 15 yrs ago my daughter had bone tumors,,,,they , dtrs, wanted to do bone transplant,,course we went directly to elders,,,,then bound volumes,,,,it was a conscience thing,,,,with glee we quickly allowed it,,,some conscience,,,

what job could you have had?
by sleepy inhi i've just come home from cleaning windows.what an absolutely soul destroying job.. when i think of the things i could have done.. i remmember how my teachers in school used to tell me i would surely go to university and get a good job.i remmember the shock on one teachers face a few years after i left school when i told her i was a window cleaner.. i was also intrested in art and quite good at it.my grandfather who wasn't a witness offered to help me and my brother get good jobs in the art world.. we turned him down.. arrmegeddon was so soon.. anyone else like me ?.

one door, fellow bout 40 answered with diaper on,,talked to him like he was in 3 piece suit
then lady bus driver,,,bout third visit, we were going over tract,,,she got to the part bout what god expects of us,,,no lying, honesty, no immorality, etc, then she got to the part about homosexuality, and casually said,,,well that i cant stop
i did not take a second blink,,,,then she looked up ,,said, well are you still going to talk with me
i said heck, i'm not here to sleep with you i am here to talk with you about god, lol sorry prob off topic but just came to meorbi

Deer in highlights

my job is probably going to go away in the next 4 to 6 months due to our company being acquired and my job responsibilities shifting to people in the acquiring company.

my sister, who lives in alberta, had the same situation happen to her, they gave her a serverance package, then she opened her one woman mortgage brokerage company and is doing well, with a lot of free time on her hands also,,,became a win win situation for her,,just a thought joel

most HATED thing about the meetings ...
by alliwannadoislive inhey ya'll ... ain't tuesdays, thursdays and sundays even better nowadays ?.
i was wondering what it is that you hated most about the meets ?.
the one thing that used to really rile me was the pressure to control the children - the frowns and the disapproving looks when they were just behaving like normal kids .... the worst of it all for me was seeing any little person being taken outside and hearing the loud slaps even when the door was closed .... what is it that you least miss ?

i remember when i first started going, a mother would walk her 4 yr old to bathroom with wooden spoon in her hand,,,i was appaled (sp), and one really nice kind young man, bout 15, homeschooled, 5 kids in family, etc,,,was at local mega drug store,,,after service with service bag, etc,,,wanted so bad to have magazine on cars or something, he stole it,,,put in bag next to his wt mags,,poor kid,,was reproved,,,but even then more than welcome in my home as i knew he wanted to read about cars so bad,,,,
i often wonder where he is nowwendy
