Out4good3, When I fell asleep during the meetings, I had to stand up at my seat. Did I mention that my parents always sat in either the 1st or 2nd row? Oreo

Corporal punishment and JWs
by YellowLab inhow many of you were spanked, beaten or in some other way physically corrected as a jw?.
my mother used to beat me with her hands, shoes, belts and various other items within reach when i misbehaved.

My childhood friend. We helped each other endure the stress of being raised a JW , and I honestly believe that if it were not for her I would have never survived the abuse from my step-dad. She helped me keep my sanity, comforted me, supported me, protected me. She left the borg a few years after I did. Despite this, she ended our 25 year friendship when she went back to the borg and I refused to join her. I miss her terribly. Oreo

I have a black lab, and a chocolate lab with beautiful green eyes. My husband's boss and his wife own a greyhound, and they speak very highly of the breed.

Not intrested in Christmas
by sleepy in.
i'm just not interested in celebriating christmas.maybe the witnesses had that one right.. if i had children i would probably give presents , just so they don't feel left out , thought not having them myself did me no harm , maybe it made me stronger.but christmas is just one big fake pushed by big businessess, i am not their pawn to be played with.. ok you can have a good laught a few drinks and all that but all the while we are being taken advantage of by the comercial world .imagine the money they would lose if their was no christmas.. can't wait for that big turkey tomorrow though.

Susan,
Awesome post! I do not have Christmas memories, but what you described are the memories I am creating for my children. At our home, Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
Merry Christmas,

Who likes winter?
by JH inwell, today is the first day of winter.
winter here in canada is cold and long.
we have about 4 to 5 months of damn snow every year.

Winter is my favorite season. It brings out so many things I enjoy. Christmas, hot chocolate, snuggling with my hubby in front of the fireplace, soft sweaters, hearty foods, snowmen, snowball fights, bundling up little ones, and snow covered landscapes.
I'll take winter over summer anyday.

shunners in hospital
by ChrisVance inwhat noidea is going thru got me to thinking what i'd do if one of my family members who shuns me, that's most of them, were really sick and in the hospital.
several years ago my daughter was really sick and in the hospital.
i didn't go see her and i've often wondered whether i did the right thing.

I can't figure my family out, when I try it drives me crazy! I try to make a really long story short. I was shunned by my family until my mother became very ill and needed an organ transplant. All of a sudden I was needed, so they stopped shunning me. After the transplant, mom's health improved so I was shunned again. No matter how hard I tried, she just would not talk to me.
Mom's health began to deteriorate after 2-3 years. A family member sent me a letter attacking me as a mother and daughter. It also stated that I had been disowned. (Can you disown someone you already shun?)
I took over for mom & moved her into a care facility as the doctor recommended. I oversee all medical decisions, and finances. The family of course is back to shunning me again. In a conversation with mom a few months ago, she said the only reason why she talks to me is because she needs me.
