IF there is something to these allegations in regard a minor, obviously the Branch saw to it it didn't make it into the records that were at the Australian Royal Commission.

Sometimes it's the little things....
by dubstepped ini'm listening to a podcast where a former elder describes how another elder conducted the watchtower study about hyperbole.
the elder called it hyper-bowl.
soon the whole congregation called it hyper-bowl.

Now I think we see one factor in the whole simplification in the publications.
Just a couple decades ago, the publications at least expanded people's vocabularies. It took some mental activities to keep up with all the reading.
Now things are almost to the point of, "See Jane. See Jane Pioneer."
Of course, videos are replacing the central focus reading used to have.

If I understood what I read from Barbara's latest book, the allegation goes that Jaracz was removed in Australia from the branch. However, years later, Knorr told him he could enter the traveling work if he married.

As mentioned: field service hours is the #1 criteria. Something mentioned NOWHERE in the Bible.

What makes you---YOU?
by eyeuse2badub inof course this is an open ended question but have you ever really thought about what makes you who you are?.
is it our looks, our personality, our physique, our intelligence, our experiences and subsequent memories, our beliefs?
is it a combination of all these things and even more?

That was one of the things that bothered me as a JW. In the resurrection, the person would be a copy, but there would be no continuity between the person who died and the person being resurrected. -

A non-Witnes who accepts 607 BC?
by careful inan eyebrow raiser to be sure.
i can understand the clergyman being so baptist that he'd still use the name jehovah since it was popular in english and german churches for a long time during and after the reformation, but 607?.
see ¶ 6 under the heading "the historicity of the book of daniel".

Maybe Watchtower should build a wall around 607 and make 587 pay for it.

In a talk, Anthony Morris mentioned how the 144k would kill all non-JWs are Armageddon.
So in that mindset, a vengeful Freddy would make sense.

What happned to the Quick Builds
by blownaway inso the qbs were huge in the 80s and 90s, now i hear nothing.
have they stopped?.

In the 80's there was growth. Now there isn't.
Also...it used to be if JWs wanted a new Kingdom Hall, they saved the money, or took out a loan, and had it builts. And the property was theirs.
Since that time, Watchtower has taken centralized control of all Kingdom Hall builds, repairs, and property.

by Londo111 inthis is a rumor i heard back in november, it comes to me third or fourth-hand.
feel free to poke holes.
i have many doubts about this myself.

From what I understand, the SDA do not practice mandatory shunning anymore. So I give them points for that.
And the Mormons evidently do not shun to the degree JWs do. They allow a heck of allot more dissent then Watchtower does.

Even elders don’t know their beliefs
by Addison0998 ini had a deep conversation with my elder father today about the bible.
first i talked to him about luke 16:19-31. the one where jesus makes this crazy illustration regarding the afterlife.
of course he had to look it up on the watchtower library to be spoon fed his beliefs.

Most elders don't have the time to do any research.
