  how many of you have felt the holy spirit being jw?

  always in my prayers i ask for holy spirit, but honestly i have never felt to have it.

  There are many crazy lunes who run around believing they've holy spirit, but then, there are crazy people in general who believe or do not believe in any number of things. Of course, I am suspicious of anybody who claims divine revelation. Pentecostals and other fundamentalists have made a mockery of Christianity, as has the Society.

  But wisdom is proven righteous by its works. Is the person more balanced or extreme? More loving or judgemental? More reasonable or less? These are a good indicators.

  It is good to see your advanced thinking processes at this time. I was struggling with the idea of Jehovah poised to eternally kill seven billion people…I was finding it hard to love such a God.

  Like you…point 4 was another thing that bothered me. I love your reasoning in regard to plate tectonics. I will have to use that some day. I was having a problem taking the Edenic story literally…and it seemed to me that even if I took the Genesis story of the Flood as written, the Hebrew words used did not necessarily mean a global event…rather 'land' instead of 'earth'.

  Akin to point three, I thought the ban of certain intimate practices within a marriage had no scriptural support at all.

  Of course, as for the rest of your points, I was entirely blind. I had a brother who professed to be of the anointed in my congregation…I was in awe of him. He was a nice, kind brother, but…the mental worship I was giving him was idolatry.

  As a Witness I believed the earth was 4.5 billion years old...with no conflict to what the Society teaches. And now I believe the same thing. One of the few beliefs that did not change! Oh, and I never accepted the 7000-year creative day idea...even when that was in vogue to do so.

  tonight, i watched the season opener of the new show on the nat geo channel about the religious colony in montana (usa) called the hutterites.

  there is also another fantastic show called amish: out of order.

  both shows focus on ex-members or people inside wishing to escape and follows them as they adjust to their new lives on the outside.

  How BITE applies to non-Witness groups

  i am trying to compile information of how the bite system applies to groups other than the witnesses.

  this will help witnesses consider the bite model in a non-threatening manner, because it applies to the 'other guy' and along the way they will see, hopefully, how it applies to their group.. .

  something that has troubled me for some time, why do introvert personalities reach out for the office of overseer?.

  this personality does not help with shepherding the flock (other brothers pick up their slack, their too shy for judicial committes), they are not upbuidling for the brothers and sisters (their long lost stuttering problem resurfaces when asked to call m.i.a.

  the etan patz story was huge when i was a kid in the 70's.

  very scary, parents didn't let kids out of their sight.

  I really feel bad for this man's wife and daughter. They are victims as well. I'm no anti-media nut, but I do wish they would leave them alone and not snap pictures of them. I can't imagine being in this situation.
