it still amazes me that i was a jehovah's witness for 27 years and never thought twice about these types of talks other than i need to make sure my act is together when the end comes, and now i can't even read/hear it without getting mad.

according to a harassment class i attended for work it is.

and if i see a co-worker doing this i'm obligated to report him to an hr representative.

I've been told that if there is an established pattern of greater than 2 second looks and roving elevator eyes, that is sufficient grounds for sexual harassment.

I work in education and here, there is absolutely no tolerance. It is one of the things that, after an investigation, you can immediately get fired for with no redress.

Therefore, I practice a standing policy of never being alone in an office with women for any length of time greater than a couple of seconds and if I have business with them for any longer time than that, I take it to a public area.

i was under the impression that wtbts were selling up because they were short of funds......wouldn't this money be better spent donated elsewhere?.

I have a relative who just walked off their job to go to this convention with a tour group organized by people in their hall.

Although it was a stank near minimum wage gig, it was still steady work for someone with absolutely no skills beyond what they've been exposed to in their "theocratic" activities.

What's so stupid about this is they just had that same convention some 50 miles from where they live a couple of weeks ago.

Elder wants to come for shepherding call

we are newly fading (actually, mostly disappearing).

i haven't been to meetings in about 3 months maybe and hubby hasn't gone in a month or more.

i certainly don't plan on returning, hubby is still undecided.. anyway, an elder called and wants to come do a shepherding call.

A freshly minted Assembly Hall, as seen through the eyes of a free man

the program was day 2 of the circuit assembly, but we'd been planning to catch the special assembly day (commonly referred to as sad even by me before i woke up).

i always felt sad after the program every time.

the new assembly hall is gargantuan.

I've had everything else taken from me. I've nothing left but her now. One day, I may lose her, or be reprogrammed. That's the chance I'm willing to take. There's nothing left for me. If I gain her even for a moment, as I have done, I can die having fully lived. That's all any man can ask for in this life, on this God-forsaken planet.

Damn......

While I don't think any woman is worth the price of sanity, she must be one hell of a woman to throw yourself on the blade to that degree.

Is it worth upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7?

i'm running vista home premium on my dell inspiron.

dell custom build to your requirements and i went for 4gb of ram from the start (almost 2 years ago).

i know vista has been much maligned but honestly, i've had no problems with it.

I'm running the best of both worlds.

I'm running on a MAC with Leopard. In addition to that, on the same machine within a VMWare Fusion virtual environment, I can run Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 in seperate windows simultaneously.

Vista is the biggest piece of trash software I've every had to work with in my Networking Career.

I like what I've seen with 7. Nice, slick, and clean.

Follow up to my saga

i realize i'm a bit quiet here, and most if not all won't remember my story, so here is a brief synopsis.

i recently decided that i'd rather pursue life rather than a future life promised but not realized.

i was fortunate enough that my husband agreed in that he didn't want any man telling him what he had to do, or how to live, and so left with me.

I'm one of the fortunate ones who's gotten to a point where I can provide acceptable insurance for me and my family. But, it wasn't so long ago that I was working a dead end restaurant job whose employee insurance plan wouldn've guaranteed that there would be no more of my hourly salary left to pay for living expenses.

Opting in that insuance plan would've left me working for the restaurant for free.

I remember the $120 doctors visits to quacks only interested in how many pills they could push on you. Of paying hundreds of dollars for prescriptions that now I can get a 90 day supply for $10. Of making agonizing choices on what I would do if something catastrophic happened.

I don't think anyoneout there is looking for a "silver spoon" as you put it. Just a fighting chance to provide the same quality care the leadership of this country enjoys without worrying that the costs would bankrupt and devastate.

This country seems to have no problem finding trillions of dollars to spend circling the globe engaging in perpetual police actions that do little to protect its citizens.
