  uni is not all its cracked up to be me dears, sorry

  i've noticed on this forum the big regret of alot of people seems to be that they didn't go to collage or university.. speaking as someone whose done the whole shebang, i can tell you that while yes i learnt alot at collage, uni taught me very little at all.

  in fact anything i learnt i taught myself by spending hours apon hours in the uni libary, which i could have done by just getting a day pass.. my degree has not helped me in my career, i already knew how to do what i do before going to uni.

  i run my own business now but i am sure that if i ever went for an employee postion my years of experiance would count far more than the bit of paper i have proving i have a degree.. getting a degree is pretty much down to knowing how to work the academic system.

  Indeed. If you present yourself grammatically in public as you just did here trying to convince us of the futility of education, it is no wonder why you've failed the realize its benefits and perceive it as an accolade of no use.

  In fact, your whole post reeks of the WT perception of why a university education is of no use.

  I have been in the position I'm in my technical job and in education for 15 years. I've been in classrooms teaching technical classes related to my profession for the past 10 years. I am at the top of my game in my department..the second highest paid with the longest tenure. But, I can go no further without at least a BA.

  Your "don't worry....just be happy" mantra is the same crap I had to put up with the first 10 years of my adult life as a JW, and all it got me was a bookshelf full of worthless WT publications and scarred arms from being trapped working in the food service industry.

  Yeah...that was pretty surreal. I felt my eyes rolling in the back of myhead just as I did when I used to go to those meetings with my wife and they did experiences.

  For those of you attending college now (or at least recently have)....

  please remind me what the work load is like.

  i went to college and took a few classes in my early 20s, and found it all very easy, but i had a lot less responsibility back then so i think my perception was skewed.

  now i am 31, married, 2 kids, soon to be 3. i work very part time from home.

  Going back to school myself. Taking a 10 hour couse load at a local community college finishing up the basics to transfer to a university. Will finish up with a BA in two and a half years then it's on to graduate work.

  I applaude you for being so aggressive in going back to school but six classes? At a minimum of 3 hours each that's 18 hours. Multiply that by three which is usually the additional hours you have to put in to satisfactorily complete the classes and with familial responsibilities you'd bare lya enough time left over to sleep, much less do anything else.

  I do understand why you'd be so aggressive about it though. If you're like me, you have the need to demonstrate progress. It's a need I'm working to temper.

  it occured to me the song hotel california describes the life of a jw....this songs lyrics describes a luxury resort where "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

  I think that song was actually written about heroine addiction, but it can just as well be applied to being JW.

  That's the straw you drew....

  In your convincing yourself that you just had to have "that" woman, I'm sad to say that you've handed over your self respect and peace of mind.

  If you can't keep up that pretense indefinitely, and I see no way that you'll be able to without dying a little inside everyday, when she finds out how you really...I mean REALLY feel, hopefully, in return, she won't hand you your a$$.

  Got up and made breakfast for the wife.. Cleaned up and watched her get ready for another "meeting". Sitting here at home contemplating all the studying I have to do for finals which start tomorrow and another class in Ethics I'm starting next week. Thinking seriously of applying for law school after I finish my bachelor's degree and was looking at information on schools in the local area.

  My wife told me that the conductor said that the Watchtower and Awake provides one with an equivalent of 7 years of college. I wonder how far that would go on a resume.

  I'm a manager in an IT department and a resume with that on it would get file 13 at warp speed.
