If you read further down that site there is a question that deals with whether or not it's reasonable to read CoC. Basically it's just a bunch of lame excuses about the GB knowing all the false prophecies and that it doesn't matter that they were wrong, but what matters is that they were in total aggreement. It also quotes an elder as saying he'd rather go to his grave being decieved rather than believing the WT being wrong. If that's not mind control, I don't know what is. Just believe in Jehovah and his "spirit directed earthly organization. I don't have a problem believing in GOD, but I do have one believeing in a man made organization claiming spirit direction where so many mistakes have been made to the detriment of so many. Seems to me that they're just another religious clergy class looking for unquestioned authority. Don't ask any questions; just do what we say because through us, Jehovah has spoken.
No different than any other religious organization.

Man, you really put into words how I feel about JW's. Talking to them once you've made up your mind that they are full of crap only subjects you to more of their control strategies. Why subject yourself to their rules and regulations at that point only to be labeled DF'd or an apostate, their definition of apostasy.
It's just as easy to make the break without saying anything to anyone of them. If you feel your marriage is at an end, there's always divorce on irrecconcilable differences. At least then you can control the situation, rather than allowing the Eldubs to dictate terms and labels to you.

How Many JWs Fully Buy Into the WT Party Line?
by Room 215 infor those of us with years of acquaintance with the wt and its teachings, it's clear that full acceptance of the 1914 date as the establishment of god's kingdom in the heavens is a non-negotiable condition of remaining in good standing in the organization.
many of us know people who've been booted out just for expressing misgivings, lety alone outright denying this teaching.
almost as central, and as non-negotiable, is the teaching that only baptised jws can expect to survive the big a.. .

If only they would practice that trust in Jehovah is all that's required???? Tell too many people that you're unsure and you'll get kicked out on your ass under the guise of "keeping the congregation clean". Moreso, they wouldn't have a way of keeping all those drones in line supporting their publishing empire.

Part 1: Breaking Ground with Crisis of Conscience
by Amazing inpart 1: breaking ground with crisis of conscience .
while attending the district convention at the cow palace in san francisco, the jw man who had brought me into the religion, told me that ray franz had resigned from the governing body, and several were disfellowshipped from bethel in a major cleaning out of apostates.
i was shocked, and asked why ray franz would resign.

Wheww.....
Boy was that a good read.
I suspect that there are a lot of people who "sneak around" as you say finding the real truth about "the truth". I too feel that if it really was the "truth" that it could stand up to some scrutiny, but if you ask any questions, they send the elder police after you. I suspect there are some in my family searching out and finding flaws but are taking the cautious route also.
Can't wait to read part II.

Hypocrisy Within My Own Family
by Reborn2002 inyesterday my brother (ever-loyal witness baptized same day as me 10 years ago; who is married to a holier-than-thou regular pioneer and subsequently with her encouragement has since avoided me as much as possible since i da myself) and his wife (see description above) came over to visit.. well.. shooting the proverbial shit, we got to the topic of movies.
asking politely if he or his wife had seen lord of the rings.. she interjected that it was inappropriate because it suggested wizardry and spiritism, and would never see such filth.
trying very hard to remain polite, my mom noticed the pause and said if they wanted to borrow any movies we have on tape to watch at home.. sneaky as i am, while they flapped their gums with my parents i glanced in the bag to see what they borrowed.. they took:.

Most of the JW in my family consist of the elderly over 40 people. Some the others, even most who grew up in it have long since bailed.
I for one get a kick out of watching them squirm when their hipocrisy is pointed out to them. Then there's always the technicality that they'll use to rationalize it away.
It amuses me to no end when they refuse to watch and even make fun of the content of End of Days but turn around and tell me how much they enjoy the Terminator and T2.

Don't work overtime
by DB inat this past week's service meeting, our congregation reviewed the part "keep seeking the kingdom first" in the january km.. the elder handling the part decided to include the admonition not to work overtime and risk missing a meeting, even if you need the money.
one drone in the audience even stated that working ot when we need it could lead us into becoming more and more materialistic.
well, when it comes time to take friday off to attend the district convention, i wonder if these same jws who refuse to work ot will get a favorable response from their employer when they request that friday off.

What I've seen happen time and time again is that after the WT have used them up, when they're most in need they're pawned off to the Df'd, Da'd, never a JW part of their family, this of course after having a change of heart after all the shunning they gave them earlier.
You know the "old men in Brooklyn" want to do all they can to keep that free labor from being sidetracked.

Don't sweat it dude, nobody respondes to my posts either.
I suspect that there are a lot of JW lurkers around here still trapped in their own private hell.
