i just arrived home from visiting my sister in tennessee and i got to meet her boyfriend's mother.
my sister never was baptized and left the jw's as soon as she turned 18.
( this was after i was dfed) she met her boyfriend a couple of years ago in florida and they just bought a house together in tennessee.
The Organization has affected and ruined more lives than we might like to admit. I know it has been a real problem in our family for many years now, and for what?
The ones that got out and/or were disfellowshipped seem to be doing the best.

when i first came here a while back there was plenty of discussion around and about jw topics and general chit chat but of late i've felt quite a sharp increase in posts that are: .
1/ preaching aethism (as opposed to putting it forward in a respectful way as an alternate viewpoint.
2/ vitriolic attacks on those who dare have another view ('damn those stupid heretical believers') .

If you're taking a 'Poll' count me in as a 'believer'! Over the years I've seen the 'atheist & agnostic' arguments come and go, but God is still here. History has shown there has been much effort to discredit God, remember 'The God Is Dead' movement in our lifetime, but God hangs in there, never being destroyed.
But consider that many on this board were duped into being JW's for some time and the Watchtower organization is a 'faith destroying' entity so what do you expect! Then all of sudden some ex-JW becomes the smartest person in the world, with answers to all of theological questions of why innocent people suffer, babies get killed, why I do not win the Lottery when God knows I need the money (lol) etc. But I will take the chance on God existing rather than listening to such ones.
It is true that it is probably a 'faith' issue and maybe it's involved in the seperation of 'sheep & goats', I don't know, but I will continue to be a beliiever! Plus, I'm too old to be intimidated by anyone over this matter anymore.

i have a dear friend who was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the duodenum or small bowel cancer.
it is an extremely rare form of cancer and, as i understand it, not much is known about treating it.
my friend has met with one doctor and is scheduled for a 2nd opinion this week.
Being a cancer survivor, e-mail me, and I can send you some great info.

you're always having to upgrade, but very little new useful functionality is included in upgrades.

as you all may know, the elders around america have had (or will have) their annual meetings.
you know, the ones where they are trained and brought up to date about the whole scheme of things.. anyway, an elder who i happen to be close to was telling me yesterday that some troubling/disturbing things has been going down in congregations worldwide.
he also mentioned that it will be mentioned in watchtowers and km's in the next few months.. anyone know what he may be talking about?

this question comes to mind right now because i seem to be surrounded by pregnant women.
3 of the mom's in my sons' kindergarten class of 12 - are pregnant and in the other classes i notice a similar trend.
it's not a large school - maybe 60 kids max between the preschool and kindergarten.
